Lexus schools Mercedes again
The dude that hates Lexus the most has the 2 cheapest Benz models, he obviously has no clue. U can keep your 4-cylinder bub.
Funny but for 70k Lexus obviously have found what most people wants as it is the best selling Executive sedan. Not for everyone (not me either) but it THE CAR that shook up the automotive world back in 1989.
Some of ya'll crack me up. Lexus interiors made EVERYONE re-vamp thier cheap interiors. Thank Lexus for your better interior.

Maybe I'll go and test drive the C230 today!
2.- I still don't like the exterior/body style of the Toyot....oops LS430.
3.- Overpriced
It is not an objective ranking of quality or value or whatever.
J.D. Powers ranks by surveying people's "perceived value", or "perceived quality", in other words, the cars ability to meet owner's expectations.
That is why many Korean models are ranking quite high in their surveys. It's not that the Korean cars have higher quality, it's that they are doing a better job of exceeding owner's expectations. Buyers of Korean cars have relatively low expectations, and the quality of the cars is frankly better than what their reputation is.
Perhaps consumers expectations of Mercedes is just too high. So high that it's impossible to meet owner's unrealistically high perceptions.
Benz and BMW owners alike should be the last to bring this fact to light. Let's take the GS400/430 for instance. This automatic is quicker, cheaper, and easier to maintain than my E430 or a 540i automatic. Remember, looks are subjective so if we use this arguement, who was really taken us (who paid $10,000 more for less performance) or them in their faster, cheaper, and more reliable Toyotas.
If I was going to be beaten, I would much rather say that a big guy (a really, big super muscular, bodybuilding guy) beat me...Lexus, than a puny guy on steriods...Toyota.
Think about that the next time your E430 is passed by a "Toyota" GS430 or your C230K is passed by and "Toyota" IS300 or heaven forbid your stately S430 has its doors blown off by a "Toyota" LS430.
Man, I sure do hope that Kia never comes out with a high performance luxury brand. I'd probably trade my E430 is a "Kia" outran it, but I'd keep my GS because after all...It's only a Toyota
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Quit the snobbieness people. Let the BEST car win.
I think there's a lot of elitist attitudes around here. When are people going to learn to evaluate a car based on merit and not on country of origin?
Quit the snobbieness people. Let the BEST car win.
Luxury Car Demo - BMW 7 series wins !!
70 % of the luxury cars are comprised of the MB S-Class, the Lexus flagship LS430
and the BMW 7-series.
I just finished test driving the 3, 5 and 7 series at BMW's "Ultimate Driving
Experience" at the Gulfstream Racetrack in SE Florida.
The BMW seats are the Best!...particularly the leg-extension. The 7 series has
standard 18" wheels with 19" as an option.
Compared to the MB powertrip and E-Motion, BMW gave you the keys to go on an
unaccompanied 10 mile drive.
Additionally, at the 2-mile serpentine test course, the promo focused on the 7
series, comparing it to the MB S-430 and Lexus 430. One was accompanied by a
race drive instructor. Knocking down cones did NOT disqualify you from further test
drives, as it did with the mickey-mouse MB powertrip and E-Motion promotions.
BMW won hands-down in handling stability/control/sporty driving capabilities plus
ALL of the hi-tech I-Drive component controls.
Controlling navigation and changing radio stations via voice commands was just
unreal!!
Thanks BMW, a well-done enjoyable and educational driving experience and BMW
promotion!!
Ahem!... I'm not looking down on anyone or anything, but why is it that the C230 drivers are so gung-ho about Benz? The CLK, E, or S class drivers seem to like and maybe even drive Lexus or other vehicles.
Maybe I'll go and test drive the C230 today!
Also, in regards to the J.D. Powers awards....anyone that thinks those awards are won, and not bought; please raise your hands...............................I didn't think so

Not to mention that here in Milwaukee, Lexus dealers (2 of them, both owned by Jack Safro) have appalling customer service. But then again, if compared to say, Honda...i'm sure Lexus owners think it's luxury treatment

And lastly, I don't personaly know any owners of Mercedes, or BMW's that would ever look once, let alone twice, at a Lexus. Lexus' are for old people and Randy Moss.

the lex dealers that we used were like.. 110% compared to the two benz dealers here.. weird..
i wish Lexus serviced benz's.. cuz than i could get a super car with super service.. lol
When buying a vehicle, I decide on each individual car. (Actually, I have never bought the same brand twice in my entire life.)
I looked at the ES300 before buying the Benz, and found it void of any real character. I liked the more subdued interior of the Benz better, and really loved the very firm seats. If Lexus had offered something similar, I would have considered it.
The E320 has been very reliable, but I do believe that MB has some quality issues with their ML and CLK series. But according to ML owners I've met, it's not nearly as bad as the public perception.
Mercedes service has been a mixed bag. I've finally found a dealership I'm satisfied with, but it took me a while. If Lexus made a car I'd like, I would gladly experience their service.
The most recent Lexus additions (SC430 and IS300) look way too garish for my taste. When looking for a roadster, I took a look at the SLK. It appeared well-built, but was also overpriced, IMHO.
I also like ragtops, so I went for a BMW Z3. (Lexus didn't have anything to offer in that department.)
I'm not trying to sell you all on Lexus, believe me... I won't make one dime from the sale of any Lexus other than my own.
I do have to say though that while it my GS300 is not quite as quick as my E430 and may not impress you as much, it is a much quieter and smoother ride. Also, though the controls may strike you as looking cheap, they are in the right place.
I've had the Benz for nearly a year and I still turn the traction control off each time I try to lift the drivers window. I have to look for all of the controls each time I use them. I've never had a car this long and still have to hunt for controls. The Mercedes-Benz is a great car, but shouldn't be deified by putting other cars down. In other words, Mercedes-Benz is not the only great car made.
Oh, I saw an ad for the SC430 that said it best... "there is something about ragtop and Lexus that just didn't seem to fit."
i'm pretty sure soon the sl500 will be like that.. kinda like the Boxter.. lol
and thanks and mad props to andrewK lol.. finally got someone who listens! lol
:P
