Selling 997 GT3...SL63 AMG or CLK63 black Series?

Well it's time for me to sell the 997 GT3 due to my wife is pregnant and needing a more comfortable ride. I'm interested in the SL63 AMG or the CLK 63 Black Series. What are the differences in both besides one is convertible and the other is better for the track. Not interested in tracking but do love the convertible. Any input appreciated. Thanks!

The SL will definitely be more luxurious and comfortable.

But knowing what kind of drivers GT3 owners are, I'd say you'd be better suited with the CLK BS. Very very tail happy.

So you have the comfortable, civilized convertible on one hand, and you have the brutal, tail happy track car on the other. Either way you cant go wrong.

Isn't your MB S550 a comfortable car already ? Seems to me that SL 63 w/ top down is the car to have for your location (Southern California). Just an opinion. w/ smiles Jimmy

I don't think the CLK63 BS would provide any more comfort than your GT3, it may even be worse. In a few months the SL63 won't be baby friendly either with only 2 seats. Maybe look at the CL63 or 997S v2, at least those cars have rear seats.

If I were you I'd install some rear seats in the GT3 and try to keep that amazing car. I'm waiting for the 2010 GT3's myself

yah the S is the wife's car but I need my own car where she can be comfortable when we go out in my car. However, I want a comfortable 2 door sports car and convertible will be perfect for So. cali.

I'm not really concerned about the 2 seater in the SL because we have the S class for that. However, I would like to drive a sporty car when its just my wife and I.

Yah the 2010 GT3 will be bad ***...I was thinking of trading in for it but we're starting a family and it doesn't figure out. Maybe I'll have a change of mind later if I can't resist...

I love the CLK but it sounds like you want something comfortable and maybe a convertible. As far as comfort both the 997 and CLK63BS are about on the same level but the SL has more comfortable seats, a softer ride, more options, and is a convertible. With the CLK you will feel everything in the road like a pickup truck with blown shocks. I can guarantee an expecting mother would not appreciate that kind of ride. The SL63 still has plenty of go and the new MCT transmission so I don't think you'll be missing the performance aspect if it's strictly a street car.

I'd rate the SL63 a 9/10 on comfort and maybe a 7/10 on performance, and the black series a 5/10 comfort and 9/10 performance. Good luck with whatever you choose, they are both awesome cars.

id keep the gt3 for sure... you will regret getting rid of it for either one... but if i had to pick between the two i would go with the BS...its really not that bad on the street in my opinion.... gt3 is much more stiff then it....sl63 is nice but very timid in my opinion...

I see. You just can't beat an open roadster in Southern California. Personally, I prefer the V12 SL65 over the V8. However, you must take into consideration the drop in value is equivalent to dropping a brick. Another alternative might be to keep your GT3 and acquire a used SL. Just an opinion. w/ smiles Jimmy
