Next time you take your pride and joy to the dealers, make a note of the mileage and make sure they don't take a drill to your bodywork.

haha wow. i work for a benz dealer. the mileage put on the car depends on the service done to the vehicle. if you have a leak or a noise the car is gunna have to be driven 10-15 miles to diag. the problem. but 162 miles, damn. i dont know why 162 miles was put on it. the most mileage ive ever put on a car was 37 miles on a maybach 57 with a trans problem.

When I have my car in the shop for a repair, particularly an intermittent problem I ask that either my SA or the shop forman take it home sometimes over a weekend to confirm the problem or confirm its repair. Sometimes I get it back with 150 to 200 miles more on the car. I am glad that they will do this for me and never would even consider complaining about it

I have driven cars 5-10 miles when all they came in for was an A service (slow day). I drove a brand new SL500 over 50 miles (sold on Saturday, brought in on Monday when it had 100 miles) I needed to make sure all the ABC oil was cleaned off. I have driven other cars 30-50+ miles for one reason or another. Most of the time if a car is driven over 50-60 miles a foreman is involved in one way or another. I would usually drive a car X amount depending on the complaint.
Both Audi dealers I went to are useless, onceI took my A4 in with a transmission issue. Three months later I got it back (no issue found) they drove it 5 miles.

I worked with a guy that was almost fired for driving a car ONE mile.
CLK black series, he replaced a weather stip and drove it around the block.
