Mercedes 190E status as collectors item
Dear Mercedes enthusiasts,please help me out.I recently applied for a permit to import a 1990 190E 2.6, but the permit was denied because our South African board of import and export Itac does not classify the above mention car as a classcic.However only a few runout 2,0,2.3 and 1.8 `s were imported in 1992, no 2.6,into South Africa.
What are you thinking, am I out of my mind to consider a 2.6 190E a classic in other parts of the world -please reply and tell me what do you think.

Hi there, they are extremely rare in South Africa. 2.6, inline 6 cylinder, I think I know the car you talking about. I would'nt buy it. It's not a Daimler Benz AG South African car.
Unfortunately, only the 2.3 and 2.5 16v Cosworth versions are Collectable and also ones with low mileage.
None of the other 190E variations, for now, that I know of are considered Collectors Items.

If you were to find a DTM 6L V8 190E, which were the most monstrous versions ever produced, then you sure will have Collectors item.
