Question HELP: 2003 C240 4matic Wagon high mileage, may buy?

We are looking for a car to use in New England area as a 3rd car, possible car for our daughter when she starts to drive soon. We found a C240 2003 wagon that has almost 200,000 miles on it. It has fair amount of rust on it (it's been driven in Vermont/Boston….rust near doors, above tires, tailgate, etc...) has lights/bulbs that go out he said, owner said he's never had major issues with it, interiors in good shape. I drove it today and it seemed to have a "clunking" noise up front when I drove it, otherwise seemed ok. He is asking $3,200 for it. Are we nuts to purchase it with high mileage? Owner said we could take it to a mechanic here to look at it to find out what the clunking noise is and to see if it's worth the purchase. Never owned a Mercedes but family has and know ALL about the $$$ to service. Wouldn't we better off to try to find another older wagon with much lower mileage?
Thank you so much for any help anyone can give us.
