2019 Mercedes A220 4MATIC Has Big Potential
By William Mutugi

In addition to a new infotainment system, Mercedes has included a lot of great features in the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz A220 4MATIC.

I'm relatively new to the world of Mercedes but in the few months I've become acquainted (just bought an A220) I believe I can say with confidence that they are undergoing a revolution in design (and human/tech integration).
Gorden Wagener is in my opinion a brilliant designer who incorporates some of the principles of Bauhaus design (form follows function, design around human body form, etc.) while layering on top of that his own design concepts.
I'm not an industrial designer, and am just starting to learn how to appreciate the work they put into their products.

The A220 is all beautifully sensuous curves, negative/positive reveal (which adds a lot of dimensionality), geometric forms (the AMG grill looks like stars floating on a background of deep space), and has a very low aerodynamic footprint.
Some of the design/material elements (aluminum) seem to be inspired by aircraft which are ruthlessly efficient and beautiful, specifically the cooling/heating vents and look at the spokes in the photograph above, it's like part of a turbine blade.
Everything has a purpose in this car but Wegener took it a step further and added raw beauty beyond the pure functionality of the design. When you see something beautiful you recognize it almost right away, understanding the enormous amount of work and thought that went into is part of the delight of discovery.

As a driver of this car what does this translate into? A lot. I'm calmer, my commutes seem much shorter and I live in the present. That is the meaning of art.

I need to take some time to write more about this car, to refine my conceptions...I was going to start an amateur industrial design enthusiast blog, and maybe can begin with this. Much to read and learn but that's 90% of the fun in getting there.

A220 loaner car pricing

Hi, I want to know how much would you expect to pay for a Mercedes a220 4matic loaner car that has 3,000 miles on it.

The MSRP is Listed as $43,435 and I know a guy who works at weather and he was able to get me Mercedes family discount so they are giving it to me for $38,585

This car has the premium package, amg line, night package and multimedia package. It also has heated front seats, blind spot assist, ambient lighting and some other stuff.

I dont know the guy that well but he said he was very nice to give me family discount.

My question: is that a good discount for a loaner car that has this much miles on it? They said with $600 more they would certify the car giving me 5 years of warranty/unlimited miles.

Please guys, thoughts??

Seems a bit high. You can probably find one for $35k-$36k if you put time and effort into the search and negotiation.
