GL320 CDI Fuel Econ ???

I am about to order a CDI for my wife. What is the real world fuel economy you current owners are experiencing?

I'm getting just around 20mpg in mostly city driving, closer to 23 highway, but I drive like a **** sometimes.

In lousy rush hour suburban traffic with lots of stops and red lights and an average speed of about 20 mph over a 16 mile commute: Around 18-19 mpg

Same commute in the middle of the day with less traffic, but same number of red lights and average speed of mid-to-upper 20's: About 20 mpg

Highway speeds of around 60 mph average: About 25 mpg

Highway fuel economy drops to 23.5 or 24 when average speed is around 70-75 mph.

One footnote: These are all mpg figures from the MFD display in the GL. I manually calculated overall mpg for one tankful last week and calculated about 10% better mpg than the MFD was showing. Seems odd. It may be due to different pumps stopping at different fill points, so I'll keep track over the next few fillups and see if the difference remains.

Drive Like A ______ ?

Steve,

Drive like a **** sometimes.

I'll bet you don't want to explain that any further

But, I think that is good mileage for **** driving. Good thing you have CDI.

Thanks for all of your input. I will be ordering her the CDI. I will also be replacing my 01 E55, with an 05 E55.
