First Pictures
Stopped by to say hello to Greg and shot a few pics before the PDI and detaling. What a great looking truck...! I love the OB Black on Black look. Sorry Brian, did not see your GL...will get shots tomorrow.

Thanks Asian...you have lived through all the trials and tribulations with several of my purchases...:-) I am really impressed on how good that black leather interior looks.

Obsidian Black
I had a 98 E wagon in OB and sometimes it did look brownish. I looked up Obsidian and it is lava rock which has been compressed over time and becomes crystiline. It is described as black in color with a brownish tint, hence the "dusty" look in certain sun angles. I noticed the brownish tint today and it was quite striking. No regrets here in taking this as a second choice to get an earlier delivery.

NJ, in the first picture I can see a hint of the blue tint showing, I'll bet it looks stunning. Is it very obvious or more subtle? Hard to tell from pictures and I've never seen one in person.

To tell the truth I did not even notice the blue glass. I know that on my '03 E it was quite noticeable in bright sun. Under the lighting I don't think it shows up as much. I do know it raises hell with picture taking...

From the very first new vehicle to your latest ......there's nothing like taking delivery of that new car! That interior leather looks terrific............more "leathery" than our 450's!!!

I'll bet you just can't believe it's really here, huh?
Absolutely beautiful truck, NJ. I saw my first 550 today on the lot (had to take mine in because the Parktronic is on the fritz) and wow, what a nice vehicle.

YAHOO!!! Congrats NJ. Sweet looking ride. Can't wait to read your input once you've driven the beast. Going for a long trip this weekend with mine and hope to see your pics when I return. Good luck today.

Jack, love your truck, particularly the wheels. Thought I would not like the running boards - they are enough to keep me away from an ML63 - but they seem more tasteful on your black GL. Don't know why - mabe the black truck - mabe the size relative to the ML but they look great to me. Best of luck. BTW do you lease or buy? Always believed that outright purchase was the way to go but since I rarely keep cars more than 2-3 years it seems that residual values have significantly exceeded trade-in values for the past several years.

Jack,
Congrats on your new truck. I saw an obisidian black 550 for the first time yesterday in Princeton --- WOW! - the pictures are very understated when compared to real life. looks like the muscled up big brother of the 450

NJ, congrats on the auto.. We've got twins... I too am very impressed with the black interior.. The white stitching on black leather is beautiful.. I know you'll be very impressed with the ride as well - this is a monster.. And if you should get bored of the GL550's ability look into the "Brabus Widestar" package released at the Frankfurt Auto Show. It'll pimp out the ride even more!!!
