1. You'll get used to the cruise stalk and even appreciate the location. I like how you can vary cruise speed by 1 mph or 5 mph.
2. The garage opener isn't in the best place, I agree, but it's a minor issue IMO.
3. I thought the mirrors would be a problem but so far they've been fine.
4. Don't have ipod and can't comment.
Overall, minor issues, so enjoy your GL!

I have heard this one repeatedly, but for people who have never owned another NAV, it seems great. I have used it on several short hauls and a couple long ones and it has performed flawlessly.
More important to me;
Small mirrors
TPMS
Still just minor issues.

But... it is a minor pain for those of us who also own ANY cars other than MB's... In the rest of the world, and for more than 60 years, the upper left hand column stalk is the turn signal.
You need to retrain yourself each time you switch cars. Small price to pay, I guess... remembering that it only took 20 years for US manufacturers to move the dimmer switch up off the floor.

6. Rear cargo too narrow for this size vehicle
My first impression of the cruise location was poor too. But now I am totally used to it and actually like the location and the easy adjustment.
I've gotten used to the mirrors, but still think they could be larger.
Garage opener is only odd because we are all used to the visor location...once you are trained on it you'll be fine.
iPod controls - agree.
Those are your Cons - What are your Pros?

I got in my wifes xc90 the other day to back it out of the garage...I attempted to put it in park and turned on the rear wiper (same button spot as GL park mode). Then I pulled up on the right column handle only to turn on the front wipers...man I laughed my *** off! 2 months and I can't remember how to drive a "normal" vehicle with a shifter by the console!

I never get to drive the vehicle but my wife’s only complaint has been the location of the garage door opener buttons. She originally thought the outside rear view mirrors to be too small (in comparison to her previous SUV) but she seems to have grown accustom to them. Other than that she loves her new GL.

You'll get used to the CC stalk. I have been driving mercs for more than 15 years so I am used to the CC stalk. The Nav is ok but there are better system out there. My only concern before was the shifter which was an odd location but now it is like second nature as if I have been driving with this shifter location. (I still love driving with manual shift)

Agreed. Not that its horrible, but it is sub-par in comparison to my 07 ZO6.
4. Can't comment...no iPod kit.
3. Agreed. The mirrors are a little too small for the size of the vehicle.
2. Ha. Too bad I can't program it to work with my garage door. If I did use it, I could definetly see it being an odd place for it.
1. Odd at first, but I eventually got used to it.
Glad to hear your lovin' your GL!

Hmm ... I gotta agree with 1-3 (don't have the iPod kit). I still sometimes whack the CC stalk when I don't mean to, or the signal stalk. And the mirrors are just a bit small. And pushing the garage door opener means screwing up my rear view mirror position. I'd put "No sunglasses storage like so many others" at #4. But you know what? Every car has its drawbacks and most of these are no big deal to me.

Garage door opener location works for me. I can make sure the door is closed before I leave the driveway without turning my head.
Ipod controls is a bit lacking...but I have more issues about the sounds quality coming from it
[1] For me it's the lack of the auto-tilt mirror in reverse. I know its a minor thing for some but for someone like me that has to parallel park everyday on a city street, it's a BIG assistant feature not to have...especially when I have it in my C.
Wife has complained about the location and analog function of the clock.
Navigation is low tech but I'm just happy to be able to use it while the vehicle is in motion, unlike Honda/Toyota

MB's CC stalk is great. I love the function and location, I wish my other cars had the same thing. MB's NAV is not very good, though.

GArge door opener does not work well with Infrared glass
My only complaint - the garage door opener does not work well from any reasonable distance in our GL due to Infrared glass option. I have to be literally 2 feet from the garage for it to function or have all windows open (brrrrr... in MN). My Audi's system works from 300 feet away.

The reason that I was complained about the Nav cuz I bought the E550 and GL450 almost the same time and E550 is much better to use than the GL450. I also use the S550 Nav, it was way better than both car above.
