Parktronics problems

Our 2007 GL 320 Parktronics system malfunctioned yesterday. When car is first turned on, 2 red LEDs come on for both front and back systems and as soon as we put it in drive or reverse the system bypasses itself and the light on dashboard bypass switch comes on. No obstructions and the sensors look clean.
Taking to dealer on Monday. Curious if anyone else has had same problem.

Yes, but it seems to depend where my lawnmower is parked in the garage...

No problems with my system

Clean here as well.

Parktronic even recognizes when I have the bicycle carrier installed and disengages from the system.

Definitely sounds like a malfunction. Does it happen every time now or was it a one time thing?

Only time I've had the sensors "freak out" is when I've run the car through one of those drive-through car washes. (I know, I know!) It takes that amount of water on them to cause them to go "red." It would surprise me if you had enough invisible obstructions to cause the whole system to fry. I vote for malfunction.

On occasion in the winter, when its snowing and the snowflakes are large, I've gotten a false positive from the Parktronic system. Other than that, it has worked like a charm. I disable the system before going through a car wash.

Nicely done! Keep up the good work and you'll be called a "fanatic" in no time!

I think you are right. Happens everytime I engage transmission( forward or reverse). Hopefully dealer will be able to fix it tomorrow

For a real laugh, try driving through a grassy field with the parktronic on....

I do believe something like that's why they have the kill switch on it. It'd drive me batty if the thing just wouldn't shut up.

Ice accumulation and grassy fields are its enemy. Also crossing pedestrians when you're stop at a traffic light.

Yours is acting up. Take it to the dealer.

Problem fixed

Front left sensor was faulty, caused system shut down. New sensor installed (they come unpainted from factory) dealer did a good job painting the sensor, matches perfectly.
