Buing GL, urgent question

Hi,

I live in PA. Dealer located a car I want in TX. He gave me a price sheet that shows a charge for moving the car from TX to PA (~$1200). He claims they have to use a trucking company, that's why this charge is extra. Does this sound right? Am I expected to pay extra to get the car from TX?

Thanks

that sounds about right

I had a corvette sihpped from louisiana about 8 years ago, cost 700 back then, so the number is not crazy. If you found the GL you want, and are getting the 10K rebate (plus the standard discount), i suggest you hop on it or wait another year and hope for similar deals (assuming the economy is still hurting next year)

The "shipping charge" sounds absolutely reasonable and will have to be paid by the buyer.

Thank you guys. I just wanted to make sure it's not a dealer trick. I am trying to get invoice -10K before shipping and taxes.

that sounds about right. i just bought a 2009 gl 320 in seattle and it's being shipped to me in socal now (a little under $1000K). I bought the car directly from the dealership, so the shipping is on me. If a local dealer is getting a car for you, then you won't have to pay for the shipping directly, but you'll probably have to pay about $1k more than you would have if it was a local car.

Dude, I'm just ... I'm ... I'm flustered. I don't understand. Texas to PA, three days if you go slow (ly, I know, but that doesn't rhyme!) What better opportunity to pack a small carrion ... er, carry-on, hop on the flying cheese dog (nee "South West Airlines") and learn everything there is to know about how your car drives, its systems, setting it up just right for your pre-sets, how fast it'll go, what it's like to get a ticket in Texas for 110mph ... c'mon! ROAD TRIP!!!!

I bet you could get OKNish and even Nevada Jack (or as I call him, "Yes, My Lord") to come with! I know if my wife allowed me out of the house, hell, I'd be there in a friggin' heartbeat! She even has relatives in PA and I'd STILL go!

Seriously. Dude!

Mine was shipped from Phoenix, AZ to SoCal and it cost around $1200. It has to be in an enclosed trailer as not to risk any damage to the vehicle. I guess the enclosed are more expensive. The dealer paid for my shipping. :p: I also got 12K off sticker, but this was last December on an '09.

I got mine shipped from LA to Phoenix for $350 about 2 years ago.

Plus1000 Nish... maybe he should give us the $1200 and STP, you and I go get it for him. May take longer than 3 days though... (don't ask why...:-)

I would even let Steve call me Jack once in a while instead of "My Lord..."

BTW... I have done the road trip thing for the S550, the Gl550 and the SL550... best way to take delivery! On the C350 I had it shipped from Denver for $375!

Enjoyed the phonecon yesterday Nish...
