Brake Pads (GL)

Does anyone have do-it-yourself suggestions or tips for replacing brake pads? If so, would be much obliged.

Read this link above. It provides the tools and where to mount the jack stand. You will need to buy two cans of brake cleaner spray, front and rear new set of brake pads, one pad sensor for front and one pad sesnor for rear, MB brake paste, and MB dot 4+ brake fluid. Rest is easy if you have done brakes on any other car in the past. I took the picture of the caliper and type of tools used are discussed in that thread. Let me know if you need anything else. Enjoy safe brake replacement.

Regards.

Tip #1: do nothing without reference to http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/o...tedDocId=11498

Tip#2: replace rotors every time you replace pads.

I was not aware of this requirement. Is this recommended or required by the maintenance manual?

Roll pin removal tips....HELP

I got the pads and finally got the caliper off after using a 3/8 in socket extender to hammer out the roll pins....but, cannot seem to budge the roll pins out the back of the shaft due to them hitting the rear flange. Any suggestions as to how to remove the roll pins?

Got the roll pin issue resolved. How many ft lbs should the caliper screws, brake assembly and lug nuts be tightened to?
