Do not put in gear and take directly to shop
Any ideas?? Does it have an Aux battery I could try first? Is there a way to clear the code so I can drive it? Just replaced main battery. Starts fine. Drove fine last night. Kind of weird. 07. 105k miles pretty much zero issues before.

Sadly, for you, the aux battery is right behind the other battery. You'll need to remove it to get to it.
Batteries plus has one that fits, and correct voltage.

This error has nothing to do with battery. It is an intelligent servo error-sits in the transmission and is responsible for shifting it. An easy fix, but tranny pan needs to be removed to reach the servo. Star/ das is needed to reset/ relearn a few things after that.

I had an issue like that in my GL500, I had to replace the ISM (Intelligent Servo Module), it is a little hard to take the old one to see the part number and buy the correct part. Then replacing was a little bit easier but you need to have the Star Diagnosis to program the new module. I spend about 6 hours to replace the ISM and reprogram it.

I have used the Star Diagnosis software with mercedes C5 scanner, there is a menu on it fot this. With a generic scanner is impossible, as using a used ISM, the Star Diagnosis do not program a used one (at least my do not).
