19's 0r 22's

I have 19's stock but with Dunlop sport max 275/55 on my GL450 and was thinking of changing to a 22' wheel (Chrome maybe with a lip) and was wanting some input on where to find a good looking wheel, im having a hard time finding anything ..also wanted to know how big of a ride difference there will be going to a 22 from my 19.I love the ride with my dunlops now and dont want to do something i would regret later.
thanks for any help

I went from 19's to 22's and I truly like the ride more on the 22's. The handling is so much crisper and I did not notice any degredaton of the ride.

there would defn be a deterioration in ride quality from 19"-22".

I went from 20" to 22" and could feel the difference. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being it's ok and 10 being hell ride) I would give it a 6. On a straight road, it'll be fine, but once you hit pot holes and low maintained raods... you're gonna feel it for sure.

it is a heavy luxury truck that provides extra effort to separate its occupants from the road... and i dont think the 22s with their tiny sidewall fit in that philosophy.

if i could i would run 16s on my truck

Ditto,

I'm going from the optional 19's back down to 18s for mileage. Thin, wide rubber makes little sense on a 350.

We had 22s on our ML and now on the GL. There is no comfort difference that we've noticed on upsizing from the OEM 19s on either vehicle. If anything, the handling is more responsive and surefooted with the shorter sidewall. The shorter sidewall on the GL sizing is not an extreme with proper sizing anyhow.

My wife chose the Mandrus Milleniums in chrome. The advantage to the Mandrus rims is that they're designed for going on MB only and meet the MB specs.

Go to mandruswheels.com. They have a configurator so that you can see how the rims look on the vehicle.

Planning on doing the same thing on my black 08 gl450. I hope we get more experienced 22 owners on your thread. Good luck.

the ride difference between 19" vs 22" wheels is not much different. you might get slightly less mpg due to the increased weight of the 22" wheels and tires.

i have 22" oz canyon st wheels with 305/40/22 tires.

22x10 et 40.

the only 10.5 wide rim i can remember for the gl was the 21x10.5 BBS RXII and in some pictures i've seen, it sticks out a few mm past the fenders with tires mounted.

I've had 22's on the gl450 for 4 years now. First 3.5-3 years on 305/35-22s then the remainder on 305/40-22s.

truck rides very nice with both, but a little softer on the 305/40's as you would expect.

I don't have any at the moment.

I'll try to take some when I can. Do you have any specific shots you were looking for? Because I know I need to take pictures of where the tire rubs the wheel liner for someone here.
