How so? Yeah, they're lighter, but they are weaker, and like I said, aluminum does not like threading into steel, and vice versa.

Mite keep them in the vehicle, idk.

I guess aluminum also doesn't rust but I don't think that would otherwise be an issue in this case even with steel. Ya I mean you are right it is lighter to have aluminum but does it make enough of a difference compared to an aluminum hood for example which MB likes to use and aluminum doors for example on the C-Class.

The anodizing fixes a lot of the issues with the threading and such

My aluminum ones are anodized. I shudder to think what they'd be like if not.

Much of the anodizing has worn off. Maybe it is very thin.

22 inch rims with snow tires. Not easy to lift for anyone and get near the car.

Two pins, one long and one shorter.
Just get the car to a height where you can get the wheel on the long pin.

why lift the tire? Just lower the jack.

It’s my first time doing it, I’m using a big pneumatic jack, I’m worried about the whole car flipping down on the suspension and wheel wells. This is in a controlled environment! If I were using a manual scissor jack it would be different, can control the descent a little more easily. None of this is easy. I’ve changed plenty of tires out on the road before, just nothing like this!

Galvanic corrosion can happen.

I completely love my car, and I totally agree with the complaint poster above. I can love something and also be totally frustrated by it. I have not been happy with the wheel situation. I still go outside though and every day say to my daughter "ooh look how pretty and fast my car is". Like every time. She laughs. I still think this wheel stuff is insane. But I'm no engineer!
