dash rattle - sounds like casserole dishes clanging together - thoughts?

Yeah, that's literally what it sounds like 8-)!

Like if you were driving down the road with 2 pieces of Corning Ware sitting inside the dashboard, high/center area, and hit a bump.

This started out of nowhere on the Wifemobile, she just turned 70k mi (the truck, not her). Truck's been FANTASTIC otherwise.

No recent work whatsoever.

I've never heard a 'rattle' such as this - it's rather annoying, and very pronounced.

Hear it mostly over washboard type bumps vs. big seams or such... more when the chassis chatters than is abruptly hit.

Any insight here folks? TIA, greatly appreciated... as... I'm not sure what is more annoying to me (yes I am) - listening to the Corning Rattle... or to her about fixing this! 8-)

Perhaps the center speaker came loose and rattles?

Sgt. Schultz 10-16-2012 10:05 AM

thanks Jim

is that a known issue? Would that sound like this?

63 views and no other suggestions... kinda dismayed, was realllllly hoping it'd be one of those "yeah it's your 7th Fetzer Valve - they all do that, all you need to do is xyz".

Crap. So much for fixing it with ball bearings and some 30w antifreeze 8-/

Bueller?

LOL, I've never heard of it happening on the MB, but I had an issue with the center speaker once on a previous vehicle which made me think of it. Might take a trip to the dealer, but sounds like it's probably something simple.

...it's all ball bearings these days...

8-)

We've got Fidelity extended warranty, was just hoping to avoid the Stealership regardless 8-/

thanks again

anyone else?
