2012 GL550 can your stream music
Me again!
I'm looking at a 2012 GL550 with 26K on it. Website says you can stream music via Bluetooth. Is this true. No aftermarket kit is installed.
I've only seen pics.
Any help.

2011 GL450 P2, Appearance Pkg, Leather. 2012 C250, P1, Sport, AMG Wheels, Panorama Sunroof.
I believe that is incorrect. Bluetooth streaming on GL's became available on the 2013 models.

No steaming of any BT device on the 12s unless you get the "MB media interface plus" or a 3rd party adapter that plugs in to the iPhone 4 cable or 3.5mm adapter. (you can find them on amazon and a search on this forum)
I'm not able to post a link right now.

I'm told by the local MB parts department that the "MB media interface plus" won't work either for the use of BT, only the USB and it won't charge the iPhone? They told me "If you're looking for technology, this is not the vehicle for you". I would have to go aftermarket! They would not recommend any to me.
I've seen the aftermarket BT that plugs into the iPhone 4 cord. Not in use but the website.
Here's' a real stumper! This past weekend we used the our 2011 GL450 and drove up to Lancaster. I have an iPhone 5 with the new 8.0.2 iOS. I used the maps ap and when the ap spouted off directions, ect. It came through the BT and out the speakers. The screen on the truck would look like I was trying to make or take a call. After the directions were spouted off, the screen went back to the idol Tel mode. Until the directions came out again.
Thoughts?

Bluetooth has many protocols / profiles and applications, in this case there is "Pairing your phone to make calls" and "Streaming audio". They are different profiles under the bluetooth umbrella. Your phone can pair to the GL to make calls but not to stream audio. What you were hearing was the phone's guidance using the "calls" protocol (Which it pairs fine) out through your speakers but the GLs head unit does not do the "AD2P" (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) for streaming stereo audio. For that you need the MPI or 3rd party adaptor.

I'm sure MB is getting beaten up on this?
So you're saying the following will work?
A 212 900 47 12
Looks like the device itself plugs into the existing cable outlet located in the upper left portion of the glove box? This is where the current cable plugs into.
What cable do you have plugged into the exit portion of the device? Does it charge anything? Can I plug in the old cable to the device and continue to have the iPod work?
I currently have an iPod plugged into the current cable in the glove box.
On another note the SD card says it only supports up to 4GB. I've loaded a 32GB up but it does not recognize the entire card. Is that a fair assessment?
Thanks

Do you have to turn one off to initiate the other.
In other words if I'm streaming music through my iPhone do I have to switch over or can I simply hit the green off hook button on the command head unit or on the steering wheel and talk away.
In my Lexus and Infiniti never had this problem and they are older than the Benz. Stream all day and if a call comes in the phone rings and I answer it!
This is like an antique method.
