Hi. Problem with my GL420 2006 model that I'd appreciate any info on. The soft close boot latching seems to have failed but more critically although I can shut the boot manually, when we then start the car the latch starts clicking and opens on it's own so the car is effectively unusable at present. Any idea what's up or whether I can temporarily disable the electric mechanism that's releasing the boot while on the move?

Since you have a 420 I presume you are NOT in the US (your post/sig doesn't say. However, the best place to start is a dealer. The GLs have been known to have more than their share of latch mechanism issues. Sometimes it is just a simple matter of correct adjustment procedure, other times parts/motors/etc have to be replaced.

Today I learned that there are 2006 GL models and that there is another diesel motor offered elsewhere in the world.
