Time for new tires
I have 2011 GL350 Bluetech and it is time to change my summer tires. OEMS were Goodyear LS2 RFT 275-50/R20. I was wondering if someone could provide suggestions on replacement tires. Tirerack.com suggests Bridgestone Dueler RFT as a swap. The other alternate is Pirelli Scorpio Verde (non-RFT).
Personally, I find RFTs too expensive. Any input would be great. Thanks |

not sure if u can fit 295/45R20 tires... if u can, then it's almost half price... |
I'm getting Nitto Motivos put on my GL450 tomorrow at Discount Tires. I'll post some pics and let you know how they feel. They are 220/tire plus labor, recycling fees...blahblah. Total including hazard insurance will be 1170.

I'm running Toyo Versado CUV's, cannot say enough good about them, verrry quiet, so far wering very well and good pricing, they also served me well this past winter. Highly recommended.

To replace my 19" all-season Scorpions for the summer, I purchased a set of new M-B B6 647 4210 PVD'd 20"x8.5" Tyndarides wheels near Chicago,

+1 on the Toyo Versados

Nice choice. I like the performance of Nitto but they wear faster than Michelin tires.

The problem with the BlueTec is the run flats in an unpopular size. There are only a few tires in that size with run flat capability and there isn't anywhere to put a spare because of the AdBlue tank. The Bridgestones shown on Tire Rack seem to get the same poor reviews that the OEM Goodyears get, but the Bridestone tires are $150 less per tire. So if you want run-flat, then that's what I'd go with.
I run snow tires (Bridgestone Blizzak) in the winter and the ride is 100% better than the run flats. I carry a plug kit and an air compressor but haven't ever had to use it (on this car...) If you want to risk it, your best value bet may be to get some non-run flat tires and pay $100 a year for the good AAA coverage with 100 mile towing. When was the last time you had a blowout? |
Try 285-50/R20. They will fit perfectly fine. Ask any tire shop and they will confirm this. You will have a lot more choices. But there is no run-on-flat for this size, I believe.
The diameter will be slightly larger than 275-50/R20, so when your speedometer tells you that you are driving at 60mph, you will be actually driving at 60.69mph. I just replaced mine with P285/50R-20 Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus SL. Very quiet, good traction.
