2011 GL350 DPF removal guide?

Yep, you unbolt it from the exhaust, then replace it with this https://cb-engineer.com/products/ml3...pf-delete-pipe (alternatively you cut it open and remove the core) , then you have to delete it from ecm so no dash lights show up, but for the ECM reprogramming you have to find a shop. I am about to do it myself : ), . Everyone in Asia and part of Europe is doing it due to the bad diesel fuel that clogs it, and in the US jeep CRD guys do it to gain HP. Most MB guys here don't care, but I hear the car is a different animal along with the EGR removed too.

Johnny, the link you provided (that's an expensive pipe!) says it does not work for vehicles with urea injection, which Merlyn's vehicle would have (although his post is approaching a year old). Is there more to this? I punched out the DPF material on my '98 Suburban's particulate filter... but that was before "electronics" (or any sensors) were involved with the soot trap.

yes, you are right with the urea he may have to just gut the DPF out and re-weld it, I don't know of a source that sells the popes premade. Or go to an exhaust shop and have them fabricate pipes for both the dpf and urea insert. Then you still need them gone from the ECM, which a tune shop could do. I am testing some re-programmers for ECMs myself and I will see if a shop can only modify the ECM file for me, that way it won't be too costly.

Reason I ask is mine is so clogged I am starting to get intermittent limp mode. I plan to reprogram the ECU myself rather than pay someone $1000 to do it, but will need some extra time to get my programmer and learn how to use it. I have the mercedes SD tool and can clear ECU faults with Xentry. Could I run the delete pipe and get by for a few weeks/months until I get the ECU programmed? I figure it is more critical that I reduce that backpressure ASAP.

Without an ecm dpf delete the car might go into limp mode, not sure. If I were you, remove it and clean it , just for now. They are easy to clean , just use pressure washer, look for some YouTube videos. My dpf project has been on hold. I have My tool but no time to work on it. I just started to tow a 6500lb trailer, so I may have to find time and do it for more power, .....but the GL tows so nice anyway.! ))
