GL450 acceleration hesitation
My wife 2011 is complaining about hesitation while accelerating in traffic after braking. I've read through other posts on this and it's still unclear where to start troubleshooting.
Facts:
-Plugs are <20k miles
-Battery is original I think
-Air filters <10k miles
-I live at 6000' but frequently drive at sea level
-Fuel filter original
-No check engine light
Thanks for the responses.

I can't say the battery is causing your hesitation but you need to change it if original. Do that and see if it changed anything. If not, could be abad MAF. Have it scanned before yoi throw a bunch of money at the car.

1. check intake for obstructions- there are little flaps on the front grille that tend to obstruct the intakes. make sure they are in place.
2. treat couple tanks with chevron techron - drive aggressively.
4. teach in throttle position sensor
5. observe fuel rail pressures under throttle. if low - fuel filter or fuel pressure regulator are usually the culprit. rarely fuel pump
6. perform fuel injector cleaning procedure (usually dealer only).

"Hesitation" is a vague description.
If it's in fact as if the motor shut off after the first half to one second of acceleration and you pitch forward in your seat, you'll need a new transmission valve body or at the minimum a transmission software flash.

Hello,
I'm a noobie here and thought I'd share my "theory".
My wife drives the GL daily but is a stay at home mom and doesn't drive it much. I think the computer learned her driving behavior.
When I drive it and hit the gas, it "hesitates" for 1/2 to 1 second and then downshifts and gasses it. Seems kinda dangerous for evasive situations.
After driving the GL for a few hours, it doesn't hesitate anymore. It like "learned" my driving style.
I really don't know, hope it helps.
