TPMS problem GL x164
Hi
Have a TPMS problem with my 2010 GL450cdi. Option code 475, High Line / Mid line TPMS system.
Message "Sensor Missing" LH rear wheel.
Checking with an OBDII reader all sensors are recogniced with correct ID, but rear sensors location are swapped. After a relearn via OBDII, and TPMS monitoring system restarted by steering wheel and instrument cluster, it's all OK for some kilometers, all 4 wheels indicated with correct pressure. After some more kilometers the "Sensor missing" LH rear wheel message appears again. OBDII diagnostic tool shows that rear sensors are swapped again.
- Sensors are made by Orange Electronics, and check is OK.
- 10 x 20" Mandrus Simplex wheels.
Any suggestion whats up?

Looks like issue is sorted out.
Replaced RH rear TPMS sensor, and now it's all running. I am not sure what caused this strange TPMS mixing, could it be caused by the odd sensor location to the Mandrus wheels (inner flange)?

I don't know about the later models, but the '07 TPMS is dumb and only looks for four sensor signals. You can't tell which is missing, besides by trial and error. Remove wheels one at a time, spin the remaining, and see if you still have three signals.

i was hoping that I could scan it and find out

Quick question, I didn’t know there was a relearn function to perform via OBDII? I swapped in a couple used sensors bought on eBay but they both gave me an error as malfunctioning? Was I supposed to do a relearn by scanner before the new TPMS should work?
thanks for sharing this, didn’t know this was an option.

Through DAS? OK, good to know. I have one of those MBII scanners, but that just reads the sensors - I didn't see a way to turn it off. Just gotta find someone with it - I guess I could try calling a local MB dealer, but I'm not sure they would be allowed to do it? I have one sensor no longer reading - which I assume is because of a bad battery - but I really don't need this TPMS function... I know how to read a pressure gauge
Do the TPMS sensors have batteries? Or do they work from the spinning motion (centripetal/centrifugal force)?

Sensors have batteries and a transmitter which works either at 315mhz or 433 I believe...your receiver unit operates on one of those two frequencies.
I deleted mine because I bought the wrong sensors and said fuxk it; I don’t need this crap on
my 2007 - I have eyes and a pressure meter.
in 2008 tpms became law so MB cannot legally do this for you.

Thank you, Max. I thought that might be the case. I'll look around for a local Indy and talk with them about it. Assuming it's even possible with a 2008? Guess the best way to find out is to just try it!
