Any1 using BG's Diesel Oil Conditioner?

I been thinking of changing my oil myself now (been using the dealership every 10K) and worried that I been doing 10K miles in the first place and may have some sludge. So I am going to be doing 5K oil changes and have been researching oils and additives and etc.

I came across the bobtheoilguy site that a lot of the Diesels including some MB are using BG DOC. And in addition they are using CK-4 oil vs CK-1 oil which the Mobile 1 ESP is a C3 level oil. The oil I been thinking of switching to is Mobile 1 Delvac ESP https://mobiloil.com/en/motor-oils/m...l-delvac-1-esp or etc.

Anyone have experience with these oils? The truck originally used 5W-30 then they reformulated and went ot 0W-30 but with sludge buildup issues, and extended wear I am feel 5W-40W may work better for this truck.

Reading this from a service center got me concerned.

I may just pull the oil pan and take a look at the sludge levels just for a piece of mind. I have seen some of the oil pans from the failed engines and that was nightmarish.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

Lol. I was looking at this yesterday. Then the shop I brought my truck to mentioned this site. He also mentioned using a diesel additive which I had heard conflicting info. Curious how many are using one.

at this point i have seen plenty motors with very high mileage running the recommended by mb oil. i see no reason why one should experiment. many truck also run extended intervals- 12k miles between changes with no ill effects.

i would stick to factory oil, not add any additives in the fuel and just soldier on.

Being as the original "factory oil" was Mobil 1 ESP 5-40, and now all the is available is Mobil 1 ESP 0-30, what is the thoughts on Mobile DELVAC-1 5-40 ESP, or Mobil1 Turbo Diesel 5-40?

Don't want to get into a discussion over 'which oil is best' but I will add the data point that I've been using the Mobil 1 ESP as recommended by the factory, and at 55k when I had the valve covers off to do the timing chain work, there was ZERO sludge in the engine, it was clean as a whistle. Now, why the timing chain stretched at 55k...who knows, but I am switching to 5k mile drain intervals.

BG products

I read those same posts and have heeded their advice for 2 years now. had underneath covers permanently removed, change oil every 5K, summer 5W-40 synthetic, winter 5w-30, use BG conditioner, also BG engine flush w/ each oil change; also use BG 248 diesel fuel additive with each tank fill. I just had the big repair due to engine problems as outlined by Stephens: disassembed top of engine, removing turbo charger, remove oil cooler. replaced intake manifold gaskets, seals $2214. have '09 GL. this work performed at 99K.

Information: by selling you BG products, your mechanic earns “point” toward free “gifts” from a rather extensive catalog BG sends him/her.

You’ll note most auto manufacturers —Mercedesfor sure— specify against use of additives.
