replace air suspension and handle is very heavy
Good Morning guys.
Thank you in advance for the help.
I have 2010 GL 450.
I had issue with my left front air suspension (air strut) and replaced it.
After I pick up my car, I felt my handle is very heavy.
Brought my car back to dealer and they are saying it has nothing to do with their job.
They checked the power steering lube and no problem.
Now they are asking me to change power steering pump.
Is it totally different issue? is there any chance they damage pump or power steering system during repair?
Anyone had similar issue before?
Please let me know.
Thank you again for your help.
Alex

if all the repair was done carefully, power steering system generally has nothing to do with air strut.
If they damaged something, then it might be related. But in that case, there might be tell tale signs of fresh damage.
If this was done at a dealership, most likely they did it carefully as even most DIYers like me know that those systems are different and unrelated. and shouldn't be touched.
If top of strut is defective and is sticking while steering moves, that might cause it but again, dealership should be able to pick it easily. It would've been a different story if it was done at Indy. My advice is to just wait and see if it gets better or worse. you can try to change steering fluid.
