Engine turns over but was extremely difficult to start first time ever
My wife’s 2006 ML350 with 95000 miles, for the first time ever, was extremely difficult to start. It took about a dozen attempts and when it finally did start a cloud of smoke came out of the tail pipes. It seemed like it may have been flooded. It runs great now.
Might there be a start-up enrichment valve in the injection system that could have malfunctioned?
What might cause a problem like this?
