Buying a 100k GL450 dangers
Looking to get a GL450 with around 80-120k is this a good expense or should I wait and get a newer one? I like the body style of the 2010-2012.

Be sure to get the opportunity to do a cold start up, say after sitting over night. If you get a puff of blue smoke only at cold start up you may have an oil burner due to worn out valve stem seals, i.e. a qt every 700 miles but no other problems.

My 450 at 250k miles still does not need oil between 10k mile intervals but the balance shaft gear is starting to go so the engine will eventually need to be replaced. I believe the fixed the issue in the later models.

Buy the Mann filters online and get your oil from Walmart. Either DIY the oil changes or take to an oil change shop and they will typically charge anywhere from $15 to $30 for the labor. All in, you will be around $100 but you can go 10k miles between oil changes.

Last 20keI've been diying instead of letting mercedes do it.
Mercedes always charged me 120$ for oil change with mobil 1.
I started doifg it myself with Liqui molly 5w40. I put in the engine flush too and ceratec.
Runs as smooth as new now. Maybe even better. Pure cream.
Ended hating the mobil 1 after 6 oil changea....engine always sounded like it was being tortured at cold start when being revved during driving Now it sounds much better and happy.
Oil change from fcp with Liqui molly costs around 70...i get most of that back with their lifetime guarantee replacement. I've done it 3 times now...so essentially free...
