2012 GL450 Arnott Air Spring Install Mess!

I installed new Arnott air springs on a 2012 GL450. Had no issues on passenger side. Driver side is a mess. The air spring looks as if it folded over on itself. I thought the air spring was defective, so I replaced it and the same exact thing happened. Any ideas? Bad strut? Thanks.

That does not look properly inflated - did you inflate the bags with the car still on the jacks or did you let it down before inflating?

I inflated still on the jack, but only a few inches from the floor. Any ideas how to recover?

I mean, they don't look inflated at all. Do you have a MB Star like tool to individually inflate the bags?
I think that is key here - and then the bag wrinkles/misalignment will correct itself with a bang (internally contained in the bag, of course).

Thanks for the help max blast. I ended up removing and reinstalling another air spring which corrected the issue. I used an older style arnott air spring this time that I had on a shelf. The older style slid right on the shock whereas the newer style was very hard to slide on, much more difficult than any I've done in the past. I'm wondering if the bags were slightly out of alignment when inflating for the first time but we're binding on the strut without the ability to correct the alignment causing the bag to twist. I did try to fully inflate, hoping I could lower it and it would be ok, but that ended up blowing the bag when it lowered still twisted. Thanks again for the help!

I had this same issue when I did mine. I used my Autel tool to inflate the springs manually. I *think* what happens is that when you disconnect the springs, the car senses a leak and quits providing air from the compressor (to save the pump if there is really a large leak.) What I don't understand is what you need to do in order to prevent this happening. I had originally thought that's why you disconnect the relay before messing with anything, but maybe you need to do more than that.
