Help - Please Confirm Fuel Filter Part Number and what is this loose connector?

Hello. I have a new to me 2009 GL320 Bluetec. I'm going to tackle the fuel filter shortly.

I removed the engine cover and took a picture. I think I need 6420920501, but would someone please confirm?

It looks like someone has gone in and used different style hose clamps (not CLIC-R). Do you guys think I should just keep these or go back to CLIC-R? The one hose looks kind of worn/damaged.

Also, in the second picture, there is a loose connector (yellow)? It doesn't go anywhere and is just loose under my engine cover. Anyone care to speculate what it is and why it's not connected? Car seems to be running fine with no CEL.

Thanks!

For the fuel filter, go to FCP Euro's website and enter your car's info there - they have good prices, great customer support and they give a lifetime warranty on everything. They also have an actual store in CT. Those clamps are fine - replace them if they work worn, that's all. From what I can see, they look really good, though?

For the connector... I don't know. BUT... it can only stretch so far - you can figure this out better by just seeing where it COULD plug into based on how far it will reach. Can't be too hard to figure out - it looks like it has to be within about 10". That's all you're doing - looking within 10". How far under the intake does it extend?

Yes, I'm a big fan of FCPEuro also. Thanks for the suggestion. Apparently, there are 3 possible filter types and you are supposed to visually match them. However, it's not perfectly clear to me which filter it is. Having watched a few videos, I'm about 80% sure it's the Mann WK842/23x that I should buy.

I did look around, and it doesn't seem like there's an obvious place for that connector, but maybe it will be more apparent once I take apart the engine air filters and do the fuel filter.

I'm pretty sure that when I ordered mine, I just based it on where the nipples where located on the top. Maybe FCP would know if you called them with your VIN?

Have the same dangleing connector on my 09 gl320. I believe it is for an optional fuel filter heater which mine does not have.
