Hello everyone. Yesterday my wife got stranded where the suv would not start. I tried jumping it and no crank. Got it towed to my house. Scanned for codes and nothing. The accessories comes on but no crank. Checked the battery and seemed to have quit. Replaced it and everything comes on but the vehicle. No crank. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.
I know most vehicles will have "fuseable links" near the battery positive. Maybe one of those popped? (Usually under a plastic cover and it looks like a big open fuse that is bolted down at each end of the link... more or less. lol)
Is the aux battery good? It's probably not the cause of the no crank, but I've found that trying to diagnose any electrical issue in a German car involves first making sure the battery voltages (both batteries in a Mercedes) are correct. What is the aux battery voltage?
Another concern is that you said you tried jump starting it. I've read posts about Mercedes that had computers or fuses damaged by jump starting. The original problem may have been a dead battery, but then the jump starting maybe caused a second problem?
Does the starter relay click when you turn the key? I think the starter relay is in the fuse box under the hood. Check fuses too.
I had to replace the starter on my 2010 GL450 earlier this year, but my symptoms were weak starting / slow cranking and I changed the starter before it totally died. Can you check the voltage at the starter?

My starter solenoid was bad on 2007 gl. Corner green on fuse box near battery terminal under hood. Swapped with air compressor relay 3rd from left to test and it immediately started. Went ahead and bought a replacement. No issues yet
You can swap the suspension compressor relay with the starter relay. In the picture they are the two green relays. You should hear the starter relay click when you are turning the key.
