Removal of third row glass on Panoramic Roof?! Seriously?

Looks like 2014 is the best year for the X166 so far.

That start stop and V6 is tempting.

Is the Start-Stop a software update or hardware?

Eco start/stop is a change to 7G+ transmission - so you could say "hardware" update - 7G+ tranny is also more "efficient" with higher % of power translated to the wheels..

If it is anything like the start stop on the '14 X5, I would not be tempted

From my first hand experience I've found that Mercedes-Benz's start stop is much more smooth and a lot more unnoticeable when compared to BMW.

From my experience in C and E class loaners I wouldn't be tempted either. If you quickly move your toe from the brake to the accelerator there is a noticeable delay that is particularly disconcerting when making left hand turns at busy intersections. Same is true when pulling out on to busy roads. I found myself having to plan ahead by lifting my foot off the brake early every time I needed to accelerate briskly so the engine would be running. And...you have to remember to turn it off EVERY time you start the engine if you want it disabled. There is no permanent off switch. The lack of a permanent off setting is my biggest issue with the system.

It would have to be programmable by the dealer (if it can't be set to remember). For example, 911 in Australia is same as you described above, 911 in the US - turn it off once and it remembers. Dealer can override.

Personally it's just annoying and I leave it off. Then again, I wouldn't buy a 450 now as it won't have the V8. Go figure.

US/Euro MB Eco start/stop cannot be deactivated by dealer programming - however, owner can deactivate at any time during the drive for the balance of that drive with console switch - YES it defaults to ECO when MB is restarted...

Only change I am interested in is the 9 speed tranny. Looks like it wont be here until mid cycle refresh in 2016 MY.

The guide says the the On/Off-Road Package requires the adaptive dampers, and that while the Package isn't special order, the dampers still are ($800 + $250 per vehicle special order charge). Configure a GL450 at mbusa.com, though, and you can add the package alone to the vehicle. The site is simply wrong?

I also notice that the Active Curve system is listed as $2900 in some places, but $3700 in others. I suspect the difference is the dampers again, though in this case with no special order charge attached.

Anyone able to clarify this?

$3700 is probably for the 450/350 since the ADS comes standard on the 550 and would not need to be added.

That's my guess as well. But is the $250 SPC gone for 2015? The order guide still appears to include it when adding the dampers with the Off-Road Package, as the charge for the dampers is then $1,050.
