Tow Hook License Plate Frame

Hi All,
I just got a new 2015 GL 350 BlueTec that has Parktronic. I live in California where they require a front plate. I've been toying with getting a tow hook frame for the front, but read on one site that it disables the Parktronic system. Can anyone tell me if this is true and why that would happen? Is it a function of the tow hook being used or that the frame interferes with the sensor? I really hate drilling into the front bumper, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have one that I use when I drive into the city.... It does effect the front parking sensor (u have to turn the system off).

I use mine temporarily.

Also in CA, I don't worry about putting the front plate on. It would only result in a fix it ticket which is cheap. Over two years in and no issues.

I drove without a front plate in Illinois for 30 years and was stopped only once for having no front plate. Even then I didn't get a ticket. Front plates are so ugly that you should leave it off and if you get a ticket, consider it the cost of a cosmetic upgrade or just part of the cost of driving.

+1 - i live in N CA and don't have front plates on any of our cars - even when my wife got popped going 80 something on 880 the cop didn't even look at it. Also our tint is past legal limit and he said nothing as well.

play the odds

Agreed. I live in Ohio and have had no front plate on multiple cars for years. Only one 'fix-it' ticket and when I showed up at the police station to show them my tow hook with plate.........they did not even come out to look at it.
Stupid, stupid law. I refuse to drill holes in my front bumper!
