Engine vibration when idle
Hello all.
My car has 6K miles on ODO and I decided to visit my dealer to change oil and filter. After the job has been done - i drove home and before turning the engine off I noticed that I feel noticeable vibration when the car idles. No error messages. My tachometer shows idle speed about 650 rpm, but I think it was about 800 before I visit the dealership. I can't imagine how is it possible to change oil and screw up something else
Any ideas ?
I'm afraid to revisit my dealership again
Thanks.

Vibration is one of the most difficult problems to troubleshoot and correct. What you are experiencing can be attributed to computer reset and relearning process, or something else (possibly related or unrelated to the oil change) - yeah, it's that kind of hell. I have been trying to get the dealer to troubleshoot a similar vibration issue with MY13 GL450 with no luck so far. Apparently vibration at idle is normal......, harmonic (resonating) vibration at 1,500 RPMs cold / 1,800 RPMs warm is normal .....

Update : today I was pleasantly surprised visiting my dealership. They actually found the cause of idle vibration. Attached is what they've done.

aeggroup, I have the same problem with 2015 GL450. Super frustrating. I cannot open the link with your image to see what was done for your car. Can you please send it again? Or email me at max90034@yahoo.com
Thanks!
Thanks!

Just to add to my post above , I got this vibration after 40K service was done at the dealership. I feel it at idle, mainly in D/R but also a bit in N.
Question: My engine RPMs are ~650 in N but drops to ~500 in D/R. Is it normal to be that low? Thanks.

Yep....techs are becoming less and less careful during those oil changes.
I had a rough idle and surging power issue that all ended up happening after an oil change traced back to a loose air filter clamp after 2 service visits.....

My 2014 GL550 developed a rough idle about 5,000 miles ago, and the dealer has found nothing wrong. They thought it was bad motor mounts, or a bad spark plug. I’m just living with it.

Yeah its annoying when older attachments don't open like the one above. I've ran into this problem with this forum quite often. Just read this post and was wondering what issue they found.

My issue was traced to be a bad motor mounting as GLs are known for. In fact, dealer told me the first brand new replacement they installed was bad right out of box as well.
