Wood Care?

Does anyone have an opinion on how best to care for the beautiful wood trim pieces in our GL? We live in a very dry climate and want to be sure that it doesn't crack - my thought was a light rub with Walnut oil a couple of times a year, but I thought that I would ask the detailing guru's.

Oil - no - the "epoxy" type finish is not really permeable - and no "oil" will get thru to the wood.

Best to consider a "sealant" which will help maintain the integrity of the top finish - google Glanzwax as a suggestion from Einzsett

Oh... Sorry about the confusion. This is the fancy open pore wood trim not the fished product.

"Open pore" is a descriptive term for the grain - it is not "open wood" it has what I call a nano-finish - same principle applies - use of a non-glossy sealant - again, I recommend Glanzwax- upside is a $20 can will be 3-4-5 application including your exterior paint and wheels..

More on the wood

Ah!! Great... that is very good to know and I am so glad that you answered. Our MB dealer was not passing along the correct information.

I will look for Glanzwax post haste and apply with care. Thanks very much!
