GLS at Frankfurt Auto Show?

Several media sources are reporting that MB may unveil the GLS at Frankfurt in a few weeks. Has anyone heard anything internally?

Fab, you normally know about this stuff before the rest of us, have you heard anything?

I have not heard about Frankfurt - the last discussion was whether or not "GLS" could and should be shown at the Zurich Auto Show end October - and at that discussion the final decision for Zurich had not been made - although it was decided if it could/would happen the show the show vehicle would be a GLS63 - to set the stage for customers orders for the Middle East.

So is it official, no GLS shown yet? Saw a few pics from Frankfurt and only saw the GLC & IAA from Mercedes.

I don't understand your GLS hype. You want to know how it will look like ? Look at current GLE coupe and apply all changes to GL. Interior will be 100% the same, front also , the only question is the back, but I don't think it will be very much different compared to current year.

Hype? Ahm, no. More just curiosity. Initial rumor was that it "may" be at the Frankfurt show. Fabbrisd1 mentioned that it might be next month at the Zurich show. Yes, I already know the similarities w/ the GLE. Everything is speculation at this point. I see no harm in asking a simple question.

For my personal reasons, when it is officially shown can perhaps lead to when it will be released. I'm in an ML right now and plan was to pick up a GLE towards the end of this year. However, w/ a baby on the way, might be looking for more room and we like the 6 cylinder diesel better than the GLE's 4 cylinder. With gas prices so low, not many are looking at the fuel savings of a diesel, hence sweetening my deal even further on one. The sooner the GLS is shown, the sooner it will be released which will increase the chance for a better deal on a '15 or '16 GL that dealers have on their lots. The residuals for both are already at 60% and 61%. If it is released later into 2016, I may consider a shorter term lease on a '15 GL or '16 GLE that would put the end of that vehicle at about 1yr after the GLS is released.

Plenty of options at this point, no firm decision yet. Not hyped, just keeping an eye on the timing of the vehicle. After all, isn't that the title of this very thread?

Yes, it is the title of this thread and I don't see what you said as hype. I'm certain you and I are not the only ones interested in the "official" photos of the GLS when MB unveils it. Maybe next month.

For North America - the retail release of the GLS will be mid-August - that decision has not changed - the conjecture on "early release" has been internet cr*ck smoking.

Is that official from MB?

And BTW, your comment about "internet cr*ck smoking". Hopefully that wasn't directed at me or anyone else on this message board.

Mid-August sounds reasonable, about a year after the GLE was released for retail. Similar to the '13 X166 coming a year after the '12 W166.
