Dealer Order Bank for 2017 GLS will open 1st week December
The internal Mercedes dealer bulletin says dealer order bank for the 2017 GLS will open 1st week December.
Bulletin says delivery will "begin in March".
That's the news - I stand corrected..

Thanks for the news, Fab.
So I assume then that after December 1, orders for the current design GL will cease?
So if you want a current version, order by end of this month?

I would be hyped up 2 months ago, but today, after seeing those pics of the new GLS, I'm not too sure if its a one step forward, two steps back.
I kinda dislike the GLE style front with passion. It looks less aggressive than my GL550 AMG body kit.
What you get really is a new control knob, a bigger ipad like screen, new body flares and light styling. I think that is about it, no performance changes or anything. If it had S class like cabin lighting, I would consider it.

I have to agree with jtse on this one. The refresh is okay but Mercedes has really softened up their products across the line. Prior to last generation, when Mercedes was into "rounding the corners" along with Chrysler, they weren't getting anywhere with new customers and losing their advocates... but when they ditched that soft look and launched the last generation of muscular, squared, and angular design-ques across the line, they created a very attractive design language that appealed to both woman and men, and not only did it push the envelope from standing out among the other German competitors, but that approach led into accelerated sales and new customers into the brand. But as of late, they're right back to the soft-edges and these very "go-happy-be-lucky" front- and rear-ends. And this can be attributed to a the reduced confidence of their design lead.

I hate to continue the thread-jack, but... I think you guys expected way too much from the refresh. It was just that... a refresh. A nip and tuck. What some of you said you wanted/expected would only come from an entirely new model.
I hope there is some new color options for the GLS.

I agree, the rear bumpers look like they were stolen from a BMW 7 Series with the sport package. A very softened look. You can barely see the tailpipes on the AMG and the 550 has what appear to be smaller exhaust tips.

Maybe it's just not photogenic but I'm not impressed with the front end. It's like a obese person with a tiny head.

That looks the biz...
I wish MB would let us Americans order the AMG appearance pkg.
Is this pic from today?
Anybody have a link to the presentation today?

I was thinking about the order date and delivery date for the new refreshed GLS last night. I would assume, regardless of when orders open, that delivery wouldn't happen until August 2016, as this appears to be the launch window for any new model year introduction.
I would find it odd that the 2016s which released in August 2015, would be replaced so soon - in March 2016. Unless Mercedes is rushing to get this new moniker branding out faster than what was done traditionally with release dates, I do not see this as plausible at all. Just thoughts.
Also, some have mentioned that the new design language doesn't photograph well. I have to agree with this. When I saw the photos of the new GLE 450 AMG Coupe, I was on the fence. But when I saw it in person, I was blown away. A stunning looking vehicle. This epiphany also included the new C63. So I feel the same about about the new GLS refresh, I think in person, it's going to look absolutely amazing in all additions.

At the LA Auto Show on Wednesday, the CEO of MB North America said orders for GLS will begin next month and it will be in showrooms early spring. So it is not a normal release cycle but is being released a few months early.

I can understand this especially that they really need to fill in this GL "S" gap since all the other cross-over/SUB models are now in market with the new naming convention.

Dude, look at the title of this thread. Fab created this thread to tell us that the internal MB bulletin says that the order bank for the GLS will open in December. So why would you think deliveries won't happen until August? Makes no sense.

Just because orders open in Dec doesn't mean guaranteed delivery in March. Is March 100% confirmed? I ordered a '16 RRS Td6 in May (when orders opened) and delivery wasn't until November 2015. It's a fair question. Dude.
