Seeking advice on high mileage X166

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...4237/overview/

Good day to all.

I'd like to ask owners of high mileage 2014 GL 450 what most occurring problems they have encountered while owning their cars and also, please take a look at the above linked sales ad.

That car has everything that I need - 3 zone climate control, 360 degree camera. Currently I'm leasing a 2014 ML 350, which is to expire in July. I'm not a heavy driver - I'm averaging about 5K miles per year. I feel that i need an extra row of seats because we're hoping to grow our family next year. The options that I have is either to keep my current ML 350 - I would just have to pay the residual value of 33912 - I have about 8K miles on it & I have never had problems with it, or find a deal such as above.

Thanks in advance

Although I have a GL 350, I have not come across any major issues with my car. I currently have 85K miles and it's still going strong. The minor issues I have encountered are a broken vent register and seat adjustment switch replacement.

I feel as long as the car is maintained well, there shouldn't be any problems. Best to
check the car fax report or if possible to get maintainance logs.

A gaggle of MB's
You would be "smart" for lower-mileage/Dealer-CPO - why risk ?

Fabbrisd,

I'm looking at that car because it's literally thousands less than a CPO. The car that I've linked in the 1st post is 33470, while the GL 450 that has what I want (3 zone climate, 360 degree camera) is 39988 with not really favorite brown color https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/cpo/i...DF7CE9EA392229.

I'm asking for advice & help because of my limited knowledge and I'm open to other people's opinions.

Like, is 6500 dollar price difference worth the CPO?

By the way, gentlemen, thank you for replying

Not comparable if this is the correct description of packages.

https://cnj.craigslist.org/ctd/6099383126.html

Same VIN number and it says only have premium 1, lightning and appearance package. MSRP on this rig is about $72-73k.

The CPO one you shared has MSRP of $79k.

If the Craigslist info is correct, you are missing the blind spot stuff, lane keeping and tracking assist, Harmon Kardon, 3 zone climate control etc.

Not that buying CPO has any guarantee but at least you get 1 year warranty thrown in. Not with the 3rd party seller.

Read recent members issues with non CPO. $6k is a wash with those missing options. One repair and you are in the hole.

Thank you for your help, J Lim. Those are exactly the arguments that I want to hear. However, 3 zone climate is more important than Harmon Cardin and while premium 1 is nice - it's not a necessity. But o hear you loud & clear - the 6.5 K difference is, indeed, a wash & there's a security in CPO

2015 - GL 550
3 Zone Climate for me has always been a deal breaker along with Lighting package. Without these 2 I wouldn't even buy any GL. Lot of people are ok without 3 Zone but for me I always felt it is necessary, even though I live up north. But for people in south not sure what they say to their 3rd row passengers, hang on cool breeze gonna reach you in 10-15 min until then good luck being Well done Steak.

anyways as others mentioned Fab and Jilm they are seniors and very well knowledgeable CPO is the way to go, I have bought non-cpo GL before and I ended up spending more money then I would have paid for a CPO. Seems like you are picky person because you are very hard on your option list so would you be with your car maintenance so I would say just not go with non-cpo it will be a nightmare. And buy extended warranty on this car from 3rd party are mess. Better buy a CPO keep it longer as by the time you get to know what issues it has you might be done fixing them while the warranty is on the Rig.

Good luck with your search and we have been through the same road you are going and with our experience we are telling you a NOn-CPO is gonna be a money pit, you are trying to save $6K now but later on that $6K will come back to bite you big time.

Thanks

The linked CPO was clear on what options were there. The non CPO from the Craigslist I found with the VIN number suggest only premium 1, lightning and appearance packages only. But OP said tri-zone was there.

Anyway, about tri-zone or not, I'm in Michigan. So summer could be hot, winter could be cold. I mean with tri-zone it is not that the passengers would get any colder or hotter than the front passenger. Since I've 2 kids (6 and 9), it is hard enough to get them to not fiddle with the fan speed when one says he's hot, the other says she's cold.

If anything a quad zone is best so they both can control their own tempt. I'm ok with the dual zone. But 100% with you on the lightning package. But the OP non-CPO car has lightning anyway. Whether or not the extra features are useful to a potential buyer or not, is immaterial. The price difference simply reflects the additonal options as well as CPO cost and 1 year warranty.

Dreamszalone & J Lim,

thank you for your inputs, gentlemen. You have me convinced - I'll go the CPO route. The hierarchy of options for me are as follows:
1. 3 zone climate
2. 360 degree camera
3. Lightning package

I can also keep my current lease - 2014 ML 350 4matic with premium 1, Harmon Kardon, running boats, lane tracking, blind spot, trailer hitch... the residual value is 33900. The MSRP was 59000. The car has less than 10 K miles & has never given me problems. Although it's not a 3 row vehicle

3 rows is really a strong want rather than a necessity. I want 3rd row for grand parents
