Considering this CPO GL450
I am new to MB and have acquired a great deal of knwoledge on this board, so thank you! I am looking at the attached 2015 and am wondering about the VMI (attached); just looking for an educated opinion of work done, if its a big deal or not....I am sure I can purchase for a bit less but condition is more important than a couple bucks. Thank you for all opinions!

Bought a '14 GL450 last Fall and a '14 ML350 a year before that. I don't see anything unusual there. The items shown on the inv seem to be everything that was done to get it into CPO shape. I'd go for it.

PJW thanks for the quick reply; thought the LEFT FRONT SWAY END LINK replacement might indicate unusual wear and tear by prior owner, on top of the cracked interior wood and rear bumper work. Thank you again!

My GL VMI showed repair of leaking rear main seal. I made the dealer put it up on a lift so I could check it. Dry. Broken trim is likely kids or carelessness. I got my motor mounts replaced because of a shudder. That should have been caught during the CPO process, but covered under the warranty. Your car got some "B" service items like the brake bleed.

I know enough to be dangerous, is the "b" service a good thing? And is the prepaid service that MB is now offering with the purchase before end Feb worth much?

It has the crucial right options being the bixenon headlights, the rear airconditioning system and the rear seat entertainment plus the lane tracking and parking sensors.
The only thing missing for me personally would be the Harman kardon sound system and the trailer hitch.
The hitch is extremely useful for bike racks and home depot/uhaul runs.
I looked through, it seems like it's had a hard first owner but reconditioned nicely. Strangely enough I see that in the service history the rear brake pads and rotors were replaced/machined. But not the front. At least not mentioned specifically by line as the rear ones are.
That might be something to look into.
If you can negotiate a couple grand off that would be awesome and try to swing for the extended limited warranty.
It will be a God send when the struts and air bags start to leak.
The only other thing would be to insist on new rotors but that's me personally ....and perhaps insist on a factory installed hitch.
Hope your gl will bring much joy!
Cheers

Whether you go to an indy or stick to mb.
If you get an extended warranty, and stick to an older experienced sa they will more than likely help you out with maintenance pricing if you ask.
Also a log of things can be done simply on your own; and the maintenance packages are negotiable in price.
40k is a big one.
Trans flush. Brake flush 2 yrs
Oil and filter + cabin and air filter.
50 k should be just oil
But....I saw mb started recommending earlier spark plug changes so that might be done here. Our 2010 had its due at 60k.
60k.
Oil and filter
Brake flush + cabin filter usually
40k I think will be 6-700
50k just oil is 120-140
Spark plugs is easily 4-600
60k 5-800
Again some things can be done easily by yourself.
Windshield wipers are done in less than 2 min
Cabin n filters in 5 min
Air filters depending on how the new one is maybe 15 minutes.
Also some mb dealerships will let you bring your own parts and will work on a set labor rate for certain services.
Mine does brake rotors and pad replacements for 260 per axle just labor.
That meant I sourced ebc sport rotors and akebono pads for the brake setup.
Hope it helps!

If it was just used and still in the 4 years 48k I could have confidently said yes, shop around for the elw as dealerships charge different prices.
But being a cpo, I would ask a competing dealership for clarification or wait for someone to chime in on here.
We bought ours through carmax with an aftermarket extended warranty administered through the warranty group.
I have no complaints as all repairs have been covered at the dealership and I have one more year and 20k miles.
The only thing I wish I knew was to get a lower deductible!

Is it missing a rear monitor? Does it have the remotes and headphones?

Thanks Kombi, didnt notice the lack of Harmon Kardon; getting tired, been looking for right vehicle for several months. Had one from a dr in Fla but he sold to someone else....everyone has been great with their vast knowledge here. I would also like a remote start on these, which I know will need to be added, would you have dealer do it? (unbelievable that MB doesnt include for these prices).
Kombi, your service breakdown prices were very helpful!
If anyone is selling a lower mile gl I would be interested!

Would also check for the cargo cover for the rear while your at it when you do purchase.
Does the x166 have the media interface cable too?
Some accessories to consider.
All weather mats + whisprbar for crossbars.
Mercedes doesn't make a decent crossbar for the x166....
Also something to consider the 2014 gl 450s still had a v8 and a rear 3rd row sunroof.
2015+ had the v6
Would either of these work then ?

Blue VS silver? Silver has the hitch
Although I can't tell from the pictures if they have xenon headlights.
Cheers

2015 S550
Edit: I just viewed the one you're interested in and see that it is equipped with Designo. IMO, that truck is a bit pricey for being just a 450. I just picked up a GL550 with 40k miles for $45k last month that has Designo interior & B&O sound....along with all of the other 550 goodies. IMO, the 550 looks worlds better on the outside than the 450. The AMG body and wheels look stunning. The 450 exterior looks Honda-ish IMO.

I agree except with a couple of things, I haven't seen any 550 CPO's for $45k. And the new Honda Pilot does look GL-ish not the other way around. .
GL450's with the Designo package have leather wrapped everything, including diamond stitched seats, dash, doors, and Alcantara headliner. There are plenty of them out there equipped that way.

2015 S550
If he's locked in on a GL450, I'd go with a 2013 or 2014 instead of the V6 in the 2015. Those 2013-14 GL's have the identical motor (including turbos, exhaust, etc) that is in the GL550, only programmed for lower power by MB (probably to make GL550 pricing premium look like it had more value). A tune by any variety of tuners can push the HP from 362 to 550 or more in the GL450.

thank you fellas for your replies, I am not married to the 450, your 550 comments have me thinking Dave! I agree the car I put on here is little over priced, plus Kombi pointed out no upgraded sound system, so that and your comments have me looking.
Had a dealer tell me today that remote start can not be added? True? I live in MN so that’s an important feature.....
keep suggestions coming, excited to buy my first MB but I want it to be something I like day 1 and years later.

I agree, I'd get a 550 if I didn't care about gas mileage. I too would add an ecu flash to get things moving along.
BTW, the Honda Pilot I'm talking about is the one that came out in 2016. The others don't remind me of any model year GL.

Honda had that look long before the GL update in 2012. My truck is a 2013 and was not CPO, thus the $45k price. There are no differences between a GL550 from 2013 and one from 2016. IMO, it's a better move to purchase a lower mileage older one than spend $10-20k more to get one a couple of years newer with similar mileage. I purchased an aftermarket warranty that is better than the CPO warranty.

V8, ventilated seats, massage and multicontour seats and more importantly the ads system which will be awesome in the city with potholes.
Honestly that ads system is amazing. We test drove a gls550 recently and the power is quite amazing plus the potential power to be unlocked from a tune.
Also.....we were able to hit speed bumps at twice the speed of our own gl450 in our neighborhood in the gls550 and the 550 just floated over them...the 450 wallows.
Plus they are easier to find than a 450 with the right options.
I posted a link with the 550 for I think $48k
Other 550s might be worth a look.
LOL Honda pilot. Our neighbor has one and they're popular in Bethesda.....but I wouldn't really compare how they look the same.

Rig looks good with decent option, it all depends how loud you want to listen, and you can always compare the audio system with another car who got Harmon kardon.. Anyways about the remote start you can always install the after market well known product for Benz called Midtronics they are also recommended by Mercedes dealerships.
Thanks
Thanks
I stumbled upon it myself too....ended up being happy with the keyless go and the car in the garage.
