Any Experience With Scorpion Zero A/S Plus Tires?

I currently have the original Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires on my 550, and it's time for new tires. Wondering if anyone has any experience with the Scorpion Zero All Season Plus tires? My guess is they are just a newer model of the original tires, but can't find much info on them specifically for the GL. Thanks.

I do not have personal experience with that type, but I can offer you some insight.
Plus is not newer version, but all around version for aftermarket sale. Original Scorpion Zero you got on GL550 are specifically developed for MB (or BMW< or Porsche etc). Pirelli usually offers aftermarket version and designate it as PLUS. Per Tire Rack they managed to get better handling, wet braking, dry braking etc. from plus versions. OE versions are usually tuned for MPG boost, so will trade off performance.
I would say get them.

Great info, thanks. Haven't bought Pirelli for any of my cars in the past, so wasn't aware of the "Plus". Still surprised I haven't seen any reviews by GL owners, seems like an obvious choice based on price and potential performance.

I had the regular Pirelli Scorpion Zero on my GL550 and was not happy with the road noise and the dealer blamed a highway vibration I had on the tires. They inspected my rims and repaired a slight bend in one rim and still couldn't eliminate the vibration. I still had over 50% tread on the Pirelli's and I decided to get the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 and I am very happy with these. Road noise was noticeably reduced and it also eliminated the highway vibration. They are an Ultra high performance all season and the best seller on tire rack. I have had these the last 6 months so I can't comment on winter, but have no complaints in dry and wet driving conditions. Definitely recommend these tires.

Interesting. My GL came with the scorpion Zero as well, and I was quite happy with them. I'll take a look at the Continental, but they wore horribly on my Lexus.

I have the zero plus on my 21" gl63 wheels. They ride much better than the stock zero. Better traction and better tread wear. Best part is they are cheaper as well and with tread warranty. Get them!

Exactly the info I'm looking for, thanks. How's the road noise?

No difference. I am running 40 psi all around, better control and ride quality, tightened up the infamous GL body sway a bit.

When you say "both" do you mean the Scorpion Zero or the Scorpion Zero Plus? Thanks.

Edit: just looked and the Michelin aren't available in 21". The Pirelli Plus are backordered indefinitely, so looking like I may have to go with the Continental DWS.

Yeah the Pirelli and Continentals are pretty much the only tire available in 295 40 21. My dealer recommended the Continental and said the ContiCrossContact UHP was oem, but I believe the DSW06 is newer and is definitely a better tire and I think you will be happy with it.

Looks like Discount tire has the zero plus, check with simple tire as well.

I have the CrossContacts and they are slippery as sh*t and quite noisy. Even on hot, dry roads they spin regularly. They are bad in the rain and horrendous with any snow. My old RWD S600 with snow tires handled 100x better in the winter than the 4matic S550 with the CrossContacts. My dealer says that the DSW's wear out quickly and can't really handle the heft of the S550, but I'm willing to take that gamble after driving on these hockey pucks for the last 8 months. Unless of course there is a better all-season option that can handle snow.

I ended up ordering the Conti DWS 06 from Discount Tire Direct with their 10% rebate that started today. Should work out to $295/tire delivered.

The Perilli's were the OEM tires. I've also had the DWS and got good performance from them on my Audi S6 (retired) with 20's.

DWS06 is good tire. I have previous generation on my Tiguan and they were exceptional. I am usually guy that goes for Michelin first, but DWS is very good tire. DWS06 should have better sidewall then previous version which had some issues with bubbling.
Continental is manufacturer on par with Michelin, Pirelli. In Europe they offer much better products IMO then here, but should not doubt their quality.

It doesn’t matter what tires you go with, the design of the gl550 creates an impossible scenario. 50k Mile Tires will last you 25k.

GL550 - 2015
Exclamation Gl550 2015 - vibration issues with my Pirelli’s

I had the extreme Cross contacts from Continental on my X164 and these where the best tires I ever got.
I upgraded 2 months ago to a 2015 GL 550 X166 and visited the dealership already 4 times and they cannot get rid of the vibrations I have with my Pirelli’s.
they have about 60% tread left... I am debating switching to the Extreme Cross contact again.
anybody had the same issues with the X166 Pirelli Zero?
