Exhaust Cutouts
since many don’t really look at the build thread and might still be instrerested here is a quick clip of the exhaust cutouts I had added while the car has been in repair shop for the last 6mths. Car is not back yet but once back will update with all pics, details and more vids.
Car has catless downpipes, no resonator and now exhaust cutouts.

What do you mean by cut outs?
I was looking at different options for my GL63 and came across the active exhaust for the GLE63S which appears to have a different centre muffler design that maybe makes it sound more brutal than it does already, but Ive no way of knowing and obviously the GLE is a shorter exhaust than a GL so its not a direct plug and play.

These are elec cutouts that when opened will bypass the mufflers. The AMG performance exhaust is basically the same thing but from the factory. However setup go only fully open under certain conditions. These can be opened and closed at will. They are programmed to the Homelink buttons on the rear view mirror.

So finally the car is back after 203 days in the shop. Exhaust does sound good at idle. Under load?!? Ehhhhhh not what you think. Sounds like a Chevy Z71 with straight pipes it’s so damn raspy. Even partly open too raspy. i will work to get a vid up this weekend.
We don’t like the sound under load so will on Tues or Wed next week do a bit of work.
Current setup:
catless downpipes
resonator removed and h-pipe installed
changing to:
catlesss downpipes
oem resonator back in place of h-pipe
my hope is to get rid of the raspy ness when the cutouts are open bc I want more agreesive sound and the turbos right now are OMG loud letting off throttle. Hope I can keep the turbo sound with adding back depth to sound.
Also was able to program them to be opened and closed using the Homelink buttons on the rearview mirror!!

Glad she’s back, must feel like a new purchase for you after all that time.
On this subject, isnt the active exhaust from the GLE63S an option, even though the mid section is obviously shorter?
