GL350 wobbles on bumps and high speeds

All this time I thought the issue is in the rims as they took a good beating on horrible roads in Toronto but I just got a new set of tires and rims and it still behaves the same.

So the issue is very noticeable if I go above 110 kmh. It starts to wobble a little side to side and sometimes it feels like an extra effort is required to keep the vehicle in the lane - a very weird feeling. There is also a slght vibration that did not go away with the new set of wheels(not sure if is related). It also wobbles badly on some bumps or uneven roads and it can go few inches to the right, then left and then back into the center position within a second. It feels like its the rear side that is moving left and right.

Any clue what this may be?

The simplest cause could be a wheel, or wheels, out of alignment. This is also the easiest and least expensive to repair.

Have you done a full 4-wheel alignment since this started?

what mileage are you at?

It could be your sway bar end links. There are 4, one on each corner.

I'm at 85,000 km.
I will do full alignment tomorrow and we'll see how that looks.

also chexk your rear tire pressure.
Try to set it at 34 psi in the rear to see if it makes a difference. A high psi in rear can cause it to jump around.

Sounds like you could have a few problems. Bad rear shocks can make the car feel wobbly and an alignment issue can cause the front end to shake as can improperly balanced wheels.

Same thing

I just bought a 2016 GL350 and switched to winter tires. The snow clumps on the highway are making it wobble just the way your describing. Did you ever figure out what the problem was with yours?

Check tire pressures. The higher the pressure, the more pronounced the shimmy over bumps, etc. Same issue with my 2013 550GL. Thought it was the suspension, actual tires, etc.

are you sure there are four? I can only find front end sway bar link kits. Haven’t found any rears. If you have a link or a picture I would like to know because this is the problem on my 110k mile 2013 gl450. Floats and side to side body motion akin to plane yaw.

Never heard of the rears wearing out. It's most likely your rear shocks.
