How long did your battery last before needing replacement?

I have a 2015 GL450 (V6). It has about 39k miles on it, and I'm just curious to know how long others have had their battery last? Advance auto parts has a 25% off coupon this weekend, and I was considering replacing the battery because its about 4 years old now. This is the first vehicle I have that has an AGM battery. I searched online and there doesn't seem to be any specific number - some say 4 - 6 years. I'd rather not get stuck or have my wife get stuck somewhere and have to change this thing out (considering its under the seat).

So - how many miles / how much time until you had to replace yours?

E550, Gl550,
My 2013 GL550 had it's battery replaced around the end of 2018, like November/December 2018.

I think it is difficult to define how many miles or how much time to replace battery because it belongs to operation conditions, manufacturer. Almost batteries are used more than 2 years

My personal experience has always been (doesnt matter make) 3-4 yrs for lower mile cars and 5-6 for higher mile cars. Got 3 yrs and 27k miles out of my factory GL battery and 5 yrs and 100k out of my factory genesis battery. BMWs, Cadillacs, etc all behaved similarly.

Not sure why but my previous post never made it. I swapped out the battery tonight. Man the damn thing is a pain to change - having to cut the carpet, and hoist that beast out. Took almost an hour. But I tested the original battery on a battery load tester, and it was almost boarderline weak...

I'd HATE to change out this thing if I was in a hurry.

I purchased the Vata battery in March 2014 it had a 5 year cover on it . And i found no problem with it , other than my alarm would go off now and then at night . Put this down to voltage drop only reason i changed it . As the battery service was so oood i replaced it with another Varta But the car only clocks up 1000 miles a year .Wounder it lasted this long. But i do remove it in the winter and trickle charge it .

5 years is a general guideline for battery life, but as with everything, it varies. I replaced a VW Touareg battery after 7 years and 200,000 miles. During year 5 or 6 I noticed degraded starting in very cold weather during winter. Decided in year 7 to change it, it was easy. It was under the driver seat and required seat removal to change the battery. No big deal. I needed to buy one triple square socket, it was probably $10.

M-Bs and BMWs typically have under-seat or rear-of-vehicle battery installations. Once you know the procedure and have the correct tools, battery replacement is a 20 minute job.

Yeah, that is true. Except I still don't understand why they chose to use a freakin 13mm nut for the battery hold down!! That is an odd-ball size. Usually most bolts / nuts are even numbered in size. That is the first 13mm nut I've ever met.

I bought a new 2008 S550 in November of 2007 and replaced both batteries for the first time, last summer. The car has about 44,000 miles on it, garaged it's whole life, but not on a battery tender. They lasted 11.5 years...pretty amazing. Replaced them with OEM batteries at the Mercedes dealership.
