GL450 engine mounts
I have two 2016 GL450, one with over 100,000 miles and the other with 39,000. The high mileage one had the engine and transmission mounts replaced at around 60,000. The low mileage one now has a bad driver side engine mount. I had the dealer order both side engine and the rear transmission mounts to have them installed. It has been over a month and they can't seem to source the driver side mount. Passenger side and transmission mount came in pretty quickly. It just keeps showing backordered. I checked with an Advance Auto Parts locally and they showed the driver side as not available. I went to the independent shop that does some work on our cars today and he checked two sites that he uses for MB parts and both showed it as unavailable. Anyone have suggestions of possible sources for OEM quality driver side engine mount for one of these vehicles?

This place is a joke.
They've been on backorder for about a year, maybe longer. However, small quantities have been trickling into the U.S. during that time and have been shipped out to dealers a few at a time with the oldest orders being filled first. Just make sure your dealer has them on order for you and eventually they will arrive.

It has now past 6 months since the driver side engine mount was ordered. Stopped by the dealership today to check on the status. No update and he says because it's over 30 days he can't view it. Makes no sense to me, but, with all the crazy things I've seen from MB it wouldn't shock me. He mentioned that he is having similar issues with a lot of replacement parts and is being hammered daily by upset customers. Does anyone know if there is a place to contact to elevate a complaint, even though I know no one will care. I'm retired, have time on my hands, and wouldn't mind irritating someone to my level over the complete incompetence the company as a whole seems to be exhibiting. I'm tired of all the canned excuses for the failure to perform. These engine mounts are clearly a faulty design, and, to have no source to build replacements is really unacceptable. The old Mercedes commercial of the Best or Nothing has been answered for me. Looking to update two of our four MB's, but, they sure as Hell won't be another Mercedes. Sorry, rant over.

It is normal. I paid 350 for NOS camshaft for some old Dodge Truck which usually goes for 120. Because next available is Dec 15.

Crazy, but I'd be willing to pay and be gouged a bit just to get it fixed. I can't let my wife drive the car. She is a bit heavy footed on the gas pedal.

So it's been almost ten months since the MB dealer ordered the driver side, US car, engine mount. I hear nothing but crickets and when I call they tell me the order was placed so long ago they can't see the status. My wife and I were on an extended vacation in AZ when I remembered she had a client that owns an auto repair shop specializing in European cars. She called him and he got back to us in less than an hour reporting that he located a mount and would hold it until we got back from our trip. I assumed it would be the wrong part after looking for so long. We took the car to him Monday and picked it up today with the new mount installed. I don't know if it is an OEM or aftermarket, and, at this point don't care. He charged $400.00 labor to replace it which was much better than MB charged for our other GL450 a couple years ago. For any of you in the Triad region of NC that need service work I would highly recommend Trask Automotive in Kernersville. The owners name is Rodney Trask.
