Electronic Trailer Brake controller wire of the 7 pin connector
I have a question regarding the 7 pin connector trailer electric brake pin receiving signals/12v instead of sending signals to trailer.
In the 7 pin connector next to the hitch, among the 7 pins, one of the pin is used for trailer electronic brake. Brake controller sends signal/power to that pin to activate the trailer's electronic brakes.
Now I have a bit of special towing situation, i.e. I need to flat tow another vehicle, instead of a trailer, just like the big motorhomes flat-tow a regular car behind them.
In this kind of towing, when the car being towed behind has its brakes activated, it will send a signal/12v back to the vehicle towing it via the trailer electric brake pin in the 7 pin connector. For motorhome flat-tow a regular car situations, this is to let the driver know that the towed vehicle is being properly braked.
My question is:
When I DON'T have brake controller installed in my GL450, and when the trailer electric brake pin receives signals/12V from the vehicle towed behind it, will this 12V being feed back to GL450's 12v system in any way (Really do not want that to happen). Or, because I DO NOT have a brake controller installed in my GL450, that pin is actually not connected to GL450's 12V system at all?
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much for your help!
