Slow Throttle Response

Anyone notice their GL63's throttle response is kinda slow. It is very obvious let say when you are slowing down making a turn then when you give it some gas again, there is that 1-2 seconds lags before the power would kick in

Brought it to the dealer, and the test driver did agreed with me but then he said that is how it designed to be, and there is no fix on it

My car needs to be set to sport mode and the suspension set to AMG ++ for the best response.... If not ,mit can be sluggish.

What settings are you discussing?

Turbo lag?

hello there ,

it is a technical issue with all M157 ENGINES . I own a 2014 ML63 that has the same problem . This is not a turbo lag , it is a slow response when pressing the gas paddle . As it is a slow communication between the paddle and engine .

I tried turning my ECU to solve this issue . It helped but did not fix it completely .

Do you know if they fixed it in 2015?

They did not

See my thread

Amg has to pull their head out of their arses and outsource the trans to zf

Simple solution...RennTech.

According to the guys on the E board you still get the lag issue no matter what tune you get.

This is by design and is in line with the stately driving philosophy of The Mercedes driving experience. A manual downshift will almost eliminate the throttle tip in delay.

Actually it's due to the mechanics of the mct transmission and the time it takes to engage the wet clutch. But we can agree to disagree

Lol. It has zero to do with the tranny which is more than capable of extremely fast clutch operation and gear changes. Remember- pretty much identical tranny is also used for far more sportier amg offerings where it can be borderline almost instantaneously violent in its behavior

It also has to do with the computer learning your drive style/habits. The ECU tune take almost ALL the lag out and the harder one drives, the more responsive the car gets. One IMMEDIATELY feels the better throttle response between stock and an ECU massage. Even with a tune, and drive stop/go city and never really get the revs up, then computer will adapt and give a smoother ride. Put it in Sport and keep up the revs and OFF YOU GO!

Mine is a 1994 s w140....I want to thank you because my mechanic said the same thing and believe it or not I'm grateful as I thought it was a trannie issue but it's not although it is a pain when slowing down,it seemed to start after I had a wiring harness installed.

Always wanted to try Sprint Booster to see if it helps in throttle response.

Anyone tried Sprint Booster at last? I am looking for the correct part# !!
