gl63 spare tire
Just bought a spare tire from a 2007 gl450 and put it in the spare tire compartment. I feel a lot better with the spare tire then the air inflation kit that it came with.

my gl63 just had the tools along with air inflator and tire sealer. I was not too confident with having that kit if \i had a blow out instead of just a puncture going down I5.

hey blownv8, do you happen to have a pic of the spare tire area? put the spare tire in there without any styrofoam divider that it usually comes with

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I'm curious if the GL450 spare is guaranteed to clear the front brake calipers on a GL/GLS63? What is the smallest size wheel that will fit on the front of a GL/GLS63? I'm still researching on buying one and I would like to know what options for wheels I might have.
Thanks!
Thanks!

That's exactly what I was thinking. Will a 19" or even a 20" wheel fit? I'm looking at options for a winter set of wheels/tires. Tire Rack supposedly has 19" wheels in an 8.5" width and 30mm offset they say will work. Is that really possible? I'm hoping to go with some Nokian Hakka 9 studded if I can do the 19" wheel.

Well, checkout this link ... both 19-in and 20 in spare wheels are listed for the 63.

Yikes. My new valve stem has failed. One year old. Not impressed. A special size so I’ll contact a dealer tomorrow.
I’ll also see if the valve stem hits the styrofoam pad when laying in the trunk. It seems unrealistic that laying there quietly would cause such a failure. Twice. OTOH, if it hits the pad, that would explain alot.
Will measure it and report back.

Get a a tire plug kit. Most of the bikers use them. (You’ll also need a 1/2” drive breaker bar and 17mm socket. All of this fits under your rear deck).. . It’s a temp patch but will get you to a service center. The goop will ruin your tire. Depending on wear, you have to buy two and maybe 4 new tires. Also there is no jack in the US version of the GLC63. You can also find the oem one on the web.

See this thread regarding a spare tire from Modern Spare:

Modern Spare
I too am looking to transition from run flats to conventional tires: Regarding the spare tire purchase from Modern Spare, was there any issue about the spare fitting on the front and the back relative to the brake calipers. This would be for a 2020 Mercedes GLC 300 4matic.
