Question To Buy or Lease GLA250

Hello Forum,

Am new to this forum, don't own and Benz, hopefully am not repeating questions that have already been answered.

Am getting an offer for GLA250 MSRP 42,395, after discount: $39,000. This is before taxes and all the other fees.

Questions:

1. Is this a good deal ?
2. Is it better to buy or lease ( am flexible about keeping the vehicle short term or long term , trying to minimize risk and cost of ownership )
3. What are good terms/price for a lease ?

Thanks much for your help

Can't help with the offer price but my strong advice is DON'T LEASE! I'm just getting out of a 3 year lease and found it way more expensive to lease than to buy. I now know why so very few people lease.

My last 4 MB were leased and currently have 3 leased in the Driveway.

You do lose money in lease. I lease the expensive ones.

If car is $50-65K I would lease it and then think about buying the lease at the end, so far it hasn't happened and keep getting a new one ever 2.5years
Just leased a $65k c300 ($20k options), 4 years and may buy it at the end depending on you much I like or may end up leasing another $70k car.

For $40K, I would highly recommend traditional financing.

In 6 months one of my leases is up and thinking of financing the GLA250 for a daily driver, for the wife. She puts 50miles a day in.

So yeah finance it

Also if a car is above $100K, again lease doesn't make sense unless you get a business lease.

Yes same here, leasing the GLA250 for wife via her own business lease...that is the ONLY reason leasing is a "better" deal then purchasing (tax write off depends on the business revenue).....paying $600 a month for a GLA with zero down (more to write off per year) including the 3 years maintenance plan. that is about $7200 a year.

The math is like this.....$7200 a year x 12 = $86400 for 12 years (which is 4 terms of the 3 years lease) use of the same car. GLA should be around $43,000 out the door including tax and stuff and I don't think you will have to spend another $43,400 to up keep the car for 12 years use. I would guess may be $15,000........so for the life of 12 years, lease vs purchase is like $58,400 vs $86,400.....

However, lease.........you don't have to worry about a single things on the car for 12 years and you can get new model new color new car for 4 times...just $20,000 more to do that.

I have leased four of the last five vehicles I've driven (not MB). It has always been "cheaper" for me than buying. But it really only works if you don't drive more than 12,000 miles a year. If you like a new vehicle every three years it is the best way to go. If you change your mind and want to buy after the lease is up, most plans allow you to do so for nearly the cost of buying the vehicle outright at first.

If you don't drive a lot of miles a year, don't want to put a lot of $$$ down (I usually do $0 down), don't want to pay full sales tax (in some states), or want to get a new car regularly, then a lease may be better. YMMV.
