Just picked up my new 2016 GLA45 AMG

I took a chance trying to install the Curt Hitch and it worked perfectly.

Looks great! The interior trim looks better than I thought too.

Quite the setup there with the supermoto! How's it handle the extra weight?

The rear end drops a bit with the hitch and bike. Combined tongue weight of about 350lbs. My two GLK`s dropped the same amount. Towing has no effect on performance. Feels like you have 2 passengers.

Did they have to cut the bottom?

I wanted a Hitch for long distant trips to carry a Bike rack and didn't want a permanent solution. Ended up using Stealth Hitches. They actually made a custom hitch for the GLA45 as I was their first customer and the GLA250 application didn't work for the rear apron. It works great if you don't want the hitch to be seen when not in use. Only down side is, the hitch was too low to the ground for most bike Applications. I have a couple of KUAT racks and ended up using a Goose-neck 9" riser from amazon made for ATVs with the Stealth Hitch. This brings teh bikes away from the exhaust and I can even open the tailgate without lowering the rack.

did you install the hitch yourself? was it easy to do, as in I don't need to remove a lot of hardware?

Yes, I installed it myself. You have to take the rear bumper off with some panels. It was pretty straight forward. I initialy went with the 2" hitch. That was little low and changed it to a 1.25" hitch.

Oh nice, I do love a straightforward installation lol. My bike rack is for a 2 inch hitch so I'll have to go with that. The 2 inch is also more practical for other things besides racks.
Mine is just a 250 with the amg appearance package so it's a couple of inches higher than your amg and should have plenty of clearance.

You will be fine with the 2". My Kuat Nuvi 2" had a long horizintal section that made it impossible to mount without a riser. I tried number od 2" solutions and settled for swapping out the 2" hitch piece fir a 1.25" which had a goose neck. The instructions they give you ask to cut a piece of the rear heatshield. Dont go with their measurements, snipout just a little.
Goodluck.
