Continental tires cracking

New gla45 owner. The car was used, but great shape. Come time to put my winter rims/tire I noticed my oem rims/tires(original) were severely cracked.

I called Continental Canada toll free who says they can’t help me and that they don’t back their products essentially. These were made on 2114, so not old.

Anyone with advice?

I can't speak to the cracking but if you go a little wider ( in may case I went to 245/40/20 from 235/40/20), then there are more brand choices at half the price of the Continentals. I went with Yokohama S Drives. It's a summer tire but not extreme summer like the Continental. I don't feel I sacrificed handling, wearing well and again at half the price.

How’s the weight on the Yokohama? Any rubbing?

I am considering going that direction actually as there are no other options at oem specs.

weight wise check tire rack. Rubbing = non whatsoever. Love these tires, run them on other vehicles. I don't see the need for extreme summer tires, the S-Drives provide solid well and dry performance ratings.

Thanks for the heads up, I will look into them! 3lbs in the difference isn’t to major.

No one likes unsprung weight gain but at $150ish per tire, they are worth trying.
