What did you own before your GLA45?

Curious to hear what kind of cars different GLA45 owners are coming from.

Here is a pic of it. I truly loved the C63 S. Was one of the best cars I ever owned. There is so much I liked, the new W205 body-style, size, features I really enjoyed were; heads up display, steering assist, looks, cabin and a lot more. Engine is incredible after coming out of the 6.2 litre in a SL 63. It's a better engine (4.0) all the way around. I traded it in for my AMG GTR - which I regret trading it now in hindsight. I needed a daily driver (for the GTR), so I picked up a GLA 45. What lead me to the GLA was a few times my GTR was in for service/warranty. I had a GLA 250 for a loaner. Really liked the size and the practicality. Of course it felt under-powered to me, so the GLA 45 was a better option for me. I guess I really can't say I came out of a GTR as I still have it and I didn't get rid of the C63 S to get the GLA 45. I traded in the C63 S for the GTR. Since the C63 S was my DD and now I have the GLA 45 as my DD. That's what I based my response on. What a mess of a story, if it makes any sense - oh well.

Car looks fantastic! I haven’t driven anything with the new TT V8 yet. It’s definately a huge step forward in almost every category. My C63 is fantastic too. Love the torque, steering feel, exhaust sound, and general quality of the car. Easily the best car I’ve ever owned, Only thing I’m still missing is a little more composure in the canyons. It’s an amazingly composed car when you’re only going 70% to 80% but it bites back a little at the limit sometimes. It’s a 3800 LB car so it’ll never be a Miata but I’m wondering if the GLA45 might be a better fit.

Perhaps it's time for a change. You'll either be happy or have some regrets and then get used to the vehicle. That's been my experience over the years. Ultimately you can't go wrong with a GLA 45. It will take some getting used to. I'm going through that process right now.

Is the GLA the first turbo AWD car you've owned?

Yes it is. As much as I loved the C63 S. I don't need two TT V8's. The GLA 45 is really practical and a lot of fun. Just adjusting to the difference is all.

I've got two V8's in my driveway right now too. It's an expensive relationship. How hard has your GLA been on the front tires? I've owned three different Japanese turbo AWD cars and also an '07 Audi RS4. They were all pretty nose heavy cars.

Took delivery from Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach on 7/29/2018 and have just a little over 1K miles. So I really can't answer that question at this time. This car feels very balanced and a lot of the reviews I watched said it handles extremely well and I do agree with that. I also have the AMG Dynamic Plus Package which has the limited slip front differential. I've noticed nil on any tire spin. I've yet to do a race start on it however. With that said, the videos I have watched where they did, I didn't really see any tire spin.

Good call. I'd option it with with the Dynamic Plus Package too. I know the '18 models had a minor refresh, including some tweaked gear ratios and better programming in the DCT. Has the suspension changed too?

you miss the golf R even with the gla45? any reasons? i had 2010 GTI and don't miss it much after driving the gla45 around for 2 months. it also had a lot of problems at 125k miles so it was time to let it go.

The AMG is the first car I've owned that's an automatic (I've owned 30+ cars). I decided to give two pedals a try since there aren't many manual cars to choose from and I absolutely hate the transmission.
The AMG motor is awesome. I love the Recaro seats and most things about the interior, but I hate the steering wheel button layout and the jog control for the infotainment system. The Golf R was way better in those regards.

The GLA45 was my first AMG. It replaced a 2012 Mazda 3... I have since added an E55 to the driveway

2018 C63s Estate, 2017 gla 45 [Sold] 2017 smart 44 brabus sport [for the Mrs]
This is the wrong way round but I had a 2017 gla 45 for around 18 months before I swapped it for a c63s wagon. The GLA was the perfect length where I was living at the time but overall the car I had didn't have all the options I would have liked for a permanent long term car and it was too small overall so I let the little brute go. now compared to the next class up ( c class pre facelift ) , it did do some things better :
a. had android auto
b. I've actually used the parktronic on the gla countless times and never used it once on the C in 16 months!
c. engine sound permeates into the cabin much better in the gla. I can hardly hear the exhaust inside the C but it is really really loud outside.
d. it is always raw whereas the c feels too civilised
e. speed can be felt more easily in the gla whereas the c , I was taking it at >130mph on Sunday and couldn't feel a thing , it was too composed.
f. the gla is far cheaper and does better fuel economy (though we don't buy these cars for that reason). combined 25 on gla , combined 21 on c.
g. AWD does make bad weather driving too easy in the gla. it also has a slightly raised ride height which is useful as this thing is a rally car in disguise, I've driven it fast on dirt roads and i felt like I was colin mcrae !
h. seats and steering wheel are as good as the c class.
I. the looks. a properly specced gla 45 looks better
j. gla can be driven faster and harder quicker into your ownership, c63 takes quite a while to get used to in terms of throttle and cornering and changes to the weather require a fair amount of adjusting to driving style in comparison.

My previous car was a 2013 ML350 BlueTec. Absolutely loved that car with 455 ft/lbs of torque. I was always paranoid of the DPF system nightmares so I traded it at 52K miles.

C43AMG & Porsche Macan GTS

Sold the C43 to a friend and bought the Macan GTS. This June I was rear ended in Little Rock in the GTS and it’s still at the body shop. Worked out a deal with the dealership and as soon as it fixed it will go from the body shop to the dealer and I’m trading it for a 21 GLA 45.

Wife owned a Nissan Armada pre GLA45. Lol, kids have grown up and moved on to college. That was our first AMG and have since added a 2019 E63s as my daily. We are definitely an amg family now!
