Installing Zestek OEM HUB on the GLA45
I got a 2015 GLA45 this year, and was thinking about installing the "Zestek OEM HUB" on this car.
There were example of installing it on A45, and the Zestek company did approve the compatibility with the car, so I proceeded in purchasing the Hub.
After the installment, the OEM Hub does light up, but none of the buttons including the horn is working.
The Zestek team is working on how to solve the issue, but have not come up with a solution, so I decided to ask you guys if there is a solution for it.
Below are some details.
1. My car has the adaptive cruise control feature, and has the lane assist "Vibration" function on the steering. This means there are 5 pins on the brown connector of the OEM steering, where as Zestek Hub's connector only has 3 pins.
It seems like Zestek was never aware of car with 5 pins, and can not adapt to 5 pin cars since they have no idea it even existed.
2. The OEM Hub works on either facelifted W204 style steering cars, or W205 style steering wheel. Since they have different buttons for the steering, there were 2 patterns also for the Zestek Hub, but both is not working.
3. With the "Lane keep" function turned on, there will be an lane assist error coming up, but when first turning it off from the multi cluster menu with OEM steering and then changing to Zestek Hub, the error does turn off.
4. I heard from distributer that Zestek worked on the W204 with lane assist with the same setup.
So below are some questions .
A. Is the face-lift w204 steering and 2015 GLA steering the exact same thing?
B. Is it possible to fit 3 pinned steering to the 5 pinned steering in the first place? I know there will be 2 pins missing and lane keep will be unavailable, but will other buttons still work?
C. Looking at the wiring diagram for using W222 wheel on W204 cars, It seemed like the additional 2 pins is only for additional electricity, and all communication is done by Pin No 6 only.
One solution I can do is to add 2 pins to the Zestek connector, and connect Pin No 1 with 4, and Pin No 2 with 5.
Do you think this would work?
